It's in reverse my friend. Winky has never been touted as being overrated. Even most hardcore boxing fans didn't give Winky his full recognition until his consecutive victories against Mosley. The casual boxing fan got on board Winky's bandwagon after he defeated Tito. So how is Winky overrated?
Legal problems Personal problems Drinking problem (effects his weight and overall ability to this day) Too much in the ring damage (give me a fighter to fight winky, ike, ross, and tito in one year and i garuntee you they wont be the same after that one year, think of that... in ONE YEAR he did all that, now think of the damage, and the sparring, ect, ect... never was the same after 2000) bulged L5 disk which effects how he fights, how he trains, ect
MOST people? lol... ya... right. its more like split. and if you cant tell when exactly nando was in his prime... from 1998 till 2000 and the trinidad fight... then i dont know man. its pretty easy to tell. his prime was campas, clarke or whatever his name was, winky, ike, thompson, and trinidad... its a shame his best came too early, cuz at 21 years old he would have only gotten better if he didnt allow himself to get in the way, and who knows what would have happened.
how can you say he was robbed, when so far its split 50/50 on even ESB on who won? a robbery is when its OBVIOUS that someone should have gotten a victory. sorry bro... but when something is cut so close, and so many people are split on who won, there is no right in saying it was a robbery no matter how you scored it.
Most of the people who say that Winky won the fight against Vargas have not seen the fight. It was a very close fight with Vargas pulling out the win in the Championship rounds. I thought that Vargas won a close but clear decision.
Vargas was a MUUUUUUUUUUUCH different fighter back then..........but he didn't beat Wright, he got a gift decision on the cards. But if you actually saw Vargas fight back then it wouldn't surprise you at all that he could've beaten Wright. He was a monster.
I thought Winky pulled it out, but very close fight, suprisingly the last 3 rounds went to Vargas, cause he got a sudden burst of energy during them last few rounds. The 'roids anyone?

Vargas is alot like Davey Moore in that he won a world title when he was young and than they put Moore against Duran just like Vargas against Tito. It ruined both of them.
