This guy had skills. He could have been more with better management. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEnYmMGrBEM&feature=related
Altough he gets a lot of **** he did a lot in his career IMO. He still is the youngest JMW champion in history.
I feel for Fernando because he had alot of people hanging & living off of him. Too many parasites & bugs who got into his ear & ruinied what could have been a longer shelf life as a fighter, like Freddy said his tho his choice of lifestyle was the number one reason for his fast downfall. Being from the exact area Fernando was from I can tell you, This dude had alot of high hopes & the same amount of hater's/people who wanted to see him fall all because he made it and they didn't. I'm glad dude made enough money to keep him & his family good. But he could have still been relevant today had he stayed on the right path from jump.
just a quick note: out of the 3 fights he lost 2 by KO...the first one(against DLH)he was loaded with roids.
Ever meet him bein' from Oxnard?? Seems like a cool cat...Always rooted for the guy..except against Tito...He is one guy who I actually believe will stay retired...shame he was only 29 when he did so...great fighter, one of my all time faves..
No doubt, I used to see him all the time in the gym, knew alot of the same people also. Dude even tried to hit on a chick I was seeing at the time..lol (Don't tell his lady) All in all he was just a dude from around the way. Same with Grandpa Garcia cool dudes..
whatever you think of how his career went he was an incredible talent who gave us a number of great fights and 100% every time out
underated he deserves respect for giving tito and many other such tough fights, he beat guys like wright and quartey when he was only 21 he was still a novice when he fought tito
I seen him in a movie not to long ago... I frogot the name but the movie was ok, it was that one with Just-in Timberlake..
