AB is a washed up clown, kind of feel bad for him. That being said, I see him squeezing a close UD his way.
I'm just done picking Broner. I thought he could make things interesting against a Mike moving up to 140. It wasn't even competitive. I picked him against Porter, Porter besides the 12th round swept the rounds easily. All you have to do to beat Broner is to pressure him and throw a lot of punches. He hasn't corrected this since the Ponce fight where he was exposed. Paulie exposed him too. But for whatever reason I kept supporting him. I mean no one can deny that his potential physically was extremely high. He just has no ring IQ.
I think it will come down to who is the most motivated. I think that will probably be Vargas. However if Broner is going to have a fight that turns his career around then it has to be this one.
True which is why I am leaning towards Vargas here. Although he did beat Granados who can apply alot of pressure.
Broner really should beat someone like Vargas (who I think is woefully overrated)..................but he won't. Broner has proven beyond a doubt that he is a complete waste of talent inside of the ring. Vargas will win a pedestrian affair with Broner not throwing and posturing and occasionally throwing counters. Broner deserves no more opportunities
Who do I think will win in the eyes of most the fans/media? Vargas. Do I also think there's a VERY HIGH chance of Vargas getting screwed by the judges? Absolutely.
Well said. Thing is that Broner is entertaining to watch. Win or lose. He'll get fights as long as people are willing to watch. I just can't see him being anything else than a entertaining fighter/gatekeeper if he loses to Vargas.
I agree for the most part. Aside from the hype job part. He has ALWAYS JUST LACKED DISCIPLINE. (emphasis not shouting lol) He simply doesn't stay in shape between fights and like others, Hatton, Chavez Jr, Povetkin just to name a few of the A listers who needed more time in the sauna than they got in sparring for big fights. Broner has the skillset, and against popular opinion, the durability and chin to be an elite. But coming down from 175 to get to 140 is simply too much of a distraction. Even then, he's still, like Povetkin and Hatton, a top dawg in his division. Vargas is a solid Blevel operator, much as was Maidana, but with different traits. Unless Broner has fallen off from completely, I see him finding the range, timing and fight plan of Vargas and overcoming the first half close rds to cruise through the last 5/6 to a comfortable decision
This. Vargas is definitely the more consistent fighter. Broner has more talent, but refuses to grow as a fighter. After the Malignaggi fight he was questioned about his footwork and defense being poor and how he was going to improve them. Despite that fight being 5 years ago Broner's footwork and defense hasn't improved a lick. He also seems afraid to take any risks since the Maidana loss.
