Would be a good fight to witness .

Neither guy is shy about trading punches .

Vargas TKOS Canelo late or wins on points .

I see both guys tasting the canvas in this fight .

But Canelo will definitely taste the most canvas .

    Vargas would stop Fraudnelo.

Vargas is the better boxer, imo, but it also depends which Vargas shows up. The kid who boxed Campas' ears off, and clearly defeated a prime Quartey, was a very good boxer. That Vargas would frustrate and pound the hell out of Fraudnelo. However, the gangsta wannabe who showed up and tried to bomb with Trinidad would make it harder than it would have to be, but even then I would favor him against Fraudnelo.

He's just longer, stronger, and carries the weight better than Fraudnelo.

    Vargas was on another level.

Fernando Vargas had the skills to hang and even beat fighters like De la Hoya, Trinidad, Quratey, and Wright...

Vargas' main problem was his machismo... He would rather get KTFO than to take a knee or clinch.

IMO he could have easily outboxed Trinidad like he did bewtween rounds 4-10, but the 4 huge low blows and the 2 KDs in the first took a lot of much needed energy that resulted in an immoble and tired Vargas in rounds 11 and 12th.

As long as Canelo is not familiar with the Trinidad **** Punch, Vargas mops the place with him.

Vargas was a beast in his prime. All those guys were levels above the fighters we have now (with the exception of Floyd and Pac). Vargas would wear Canelo down, and win a UD.

I think Vargas was slightly superior in every aspect; he could box, had heavy hands and could put his punches together very well.

He was naturally bigger than Canelo but was a little quicker on his feet and had very good ring generalship in terms of guiding his opponents into a corner.

I think this would be an excellent fight as their styles match up well but I'd back the Vargas who fought Quartey/Winky/Tito against any version of Canelo I've seen so far.

Vargas would KO him. Too fast and explosive for Canelo. Not that vargas was "fast" but quicker than Canelo. Tito would KO canelo inside 2 rounds, Vargas pretty much went the distance, almost and almost had tito beaten before the low blows. Vargas, a champion in a champion era. Canelo, a champ in a chump era.

Never been too impressed with Canelo.

A solid, pretty good fighter, nothing really stood out to me or impressed me. Vargas showed a lot more in his brief prime to me than Canelo ever did. Quicker of hand and foot, short accurate punches, better combos and fluidity. He was vulnerability to the left hook, he might get stunned or hurt at some point but he wins a clear UD.

Canelo wouldn't have even been a top 5 contender back then in that era. He's just not very good.
