So this would be a very green cotto, in the process of securing that peurto Rican day parade fight time, and Vargas would've been almost washed up. Unless do you guys think would realistically been a better time for them to fight? This would be the battle of who has the biggest cajones with Vargas probably having a fifteen pound weight advantage. Who wins this bout? A ferocious Mexican, or a humble Puerto Rican ? Would this fight even matter? Would Vargas impose his physicality? Would cotto sneak in that left hook to the body? Or dance on his toes all night long? Would Vargas be able to grind him out with pressure? How would Vargas' bad back have contributed to his handicapness? These fights get me thinking, like what if cotto fought Oscar? Imo the cotto who showed up for the Mosley fight would have a 5050 shot at derailing El feroz. Remember when Fernando fought Mosley he was still walking forward pressing Mosley until his eye looked like hasim Rahman. Also cotto never dealt with a dangerous puncher or swarming seek and destroyer until he fought margarito. Albeit Torres had him on ***** street no pun intended.
Vargas was done by that point... hard for me to not see a fresh undefeated Cotto outpointing him for a decision. ... Prime for prime Vargas is too much and stops him late though, imo.
