I think consensus was "it could have gone either way".

boxing scoring is funny as it doesnt always tell the story

it told me that vargas was tough but winky was technically superior

I thought Winky won, but there were some points in the fight that he could've completely left no doubt that he was banking rounds. He didn't do that.

Vargas won that fight. It was hard to score just because you have to score jabs, but Vargas was landing the leather, was busier throughout the entire fight, busted Winly's face up and swept the last 3 rounds...

Close fight, but Vargas did better in every dept.

That was a good win for the young Vargas, he was no joke. He had so much potential but that tito fight may have been what hurt him long run. Although he almost had Tito in that fight and Tito had to resort to low blows to get himself out of trouble, but vargas did take a long beating. I think prime Vargas beats almost everyone today and would give this aging (now retired apparently) floyd a run for his money.

From memory I gave it to Vargas by a narrow margin and I was rooting for Wright. Close fight though, I guess it could have gone either way.

It was a close fight. The narrative is that Winky won clearly, but that's not the case. LOL at the idiot in the thread who said Wright won 9-3. That's absurd.

I think I honestly had it a draw.

Not to mention this was a baby vargas who had never even gone the distance in his short career at that point, against a seasoned vet in his prime. Was a great learning experience for vargas, who looked much better in his next fight against ike.
