I don't think there's any question. Vargas is a boxing tragedy. Much more could have been his.

As has been stated, he'd already fought a prime Winky and Ike.

He was as ready as could be.

Is there such a thing as 'ready' for near-prime Trinidad?

Vargas lost Vs. Weight & Condition.
bad managment & a bad following. (A bunch of Yes men).
+ he got caught up in trying to be "El Feroz" when he wasn't really that.
    (In his own neiborhood)

Good fighter, but his addictions to bad living gave him a window prime.

Vargas is another Judah...wondering what went wrong with Vargas will only give you a drinking problem and a bunch of headaches.

I think Vargas should've had a few more fights before Tito. Tito was a beast at that point and was ruining careers. Vargas is one of my favorite fighters but hes a huge could've should've... its too bad he didnt have really good management.

That being said, that was a great fight, you take away those low blows and allegations of Titos loaded wraps and who knows how El Feroz turns out after that.

Get a referee with a shorter leash and the fight ends in round 1, get a much more controlled ref and he doesn't take that vicious shot that ends the fight in the 12th etc etc etc.

I think DLH deserves a lil credit for Vargas' demise as well...almost as much as poor management, poor direction and terrible habits. He did a number on Fernando as well.
