I have an read both Odd's book the fighting blacksmith which is a pretty good book and Webbs book Prize Fighter which i thought was great.
Has anyone have any opponions on Lancky Bob or In the ring with Fitzsimmons?

Lanky Bob is highly recommended. At least in my opinion.

I have the Odd book, haven't read Lanky Bob or In The Ring With Bob Fitzsimmons, but if the latter is anything like as good as Adam Pollack's books on Jack Johnson and Jim Jeffries, it will be great!

It's just a very comprehensive bio. Definitive would be an apt adjective. I don't have a huge boxing book collection like some in here, but this book would be one of the last ones I'd part with if I were forced to sell my collection.

Read Ruby Robert 1926, The Fighting Blacksmith 1976, and Fitzsimmons,Boxing's 1st Triple World Champion 2000. Liked the last one best, but I suspect when I read Pollack the bar will be raised.

    Lanky Bob is excellent.

Pollack's 'In the ring' is also good but it ends with the Corbett fight. That's a lot of Fitz's career and important fights that aren't covered.

I liked In the Ring, really gives a good insight on his fights up to the Corbett fight. Almost makes you feel like you're there watching the fights. With all the newspapers round by round accounts. All of Pollacks books are great actually!
