Various Boxers Training Regimes

    But I feel he would have done push-ups, dips and leg exercises as well. He talks some about his exercises in his autobiography, but it was a long time ago since I read that.

    He certainly may have; in the autobiography, he mentions that when he started out, the training was 100 pushups and 100 knee bends - in some training videos, he's doing a bicycle-type stomach exercise. When he was younger, I think he did all that stuff. As he got older and lazier in training, I think he did as little as possible; roadwork, bag work, skipping rope and sparring.

    It took the loss to Spinks to light his fire again. He went back to old-school training and got in serious shape for what was supposed to be his last hurrah (if only it was -)

    He said chopping down trees was part of his training as well.

    I checked out some other sources and the routine posted seems to have been his standard routine that he varied a bit.

    It would also be interesting to know how their routine looked in between camps.

    And how about technical drills? There's plenty of footage of modern boxers drills and even Tyson on the pads, but I haven't seen anything about such drills before the 80's.
