Nah it's not lad you were saying Loma fans make excuses which IMO are valid excuses he was clearly injured in the Teo fight and got surgery afterwards.

I think that Loma is one of the most underrated because he is not undefeated. Loma took risks his whole career and did not fight in his home country he went up multiple weight classes, when he got older he still had no problem fighting much younger bigger guys like Haney and Lopez and he didn't make them fight at catch weights or have rehydration clauses, he was also ducked by other elite fighters like Tank Davis and Mikey Garcia

Tank's the biggest b!tch the sport has ever seen, so you will have zero arguments from me there. Davis 100% ducked Loma and every other quality fighter of his era.

I see Loma as a HOFmer, but I dont see him in the upper echelon of ATGs in the class of say a Duran or Whitaker. Floyd, much as it pains me to say it, is a lot closer to those guys than Loma.

Yep fair enough. I don't claim to be some boxing historian I just call what I have seen and I have seen both Floyd and Loma's careers. I think Floyd had a lot more privilege than Loma and if Loma was afforded the same type of treatment as Floyd that he would be an undefeated ATG.

That last part is quite possibly the most absurdly comical statement I've ever heard uttered in my boxing life.

The man Loma has losses to Salido, Teo, and Haney..

Yet if he fought: Genaro Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Corrales, Castillo, Corley, Judah, Gatti, DLH, Hatton, Mosley, Cotto, Ortiz, Canelo, Maidana...he'd be undefeated. Make that make sense.

Please... stop. You made yourself look really ignorant with that last sentence.

This is PRECISELY what I mean when I say he's overrated.

There is no context there lad. No way would Floyd have fought Salido in his second fight.
Really? You think that Manfredy, Gatti, Ortiz and Corley would be any chance against Loma is they were the same weight? Oscar, Mosely and Cotto were all well past their best when Floyd fought them. Hatton and Canelo were not at natural weights. Sure the names all look good but there is context. I am not denying that Floyd's resume is better but he is not levels above Loma if anything they are the same level Floyd was just the bigger star and was afforded more opportunity's.
Loma did not lose to Haney I don't care what anyone says.

You can't have it both ways. Loma fans cry that Loma was this green, inexperienced novice when he lost to Salido in his 2nd fight, but then ask Loma fans what his peak performance was. Oh, Russell... in his third pro fight.

I would counter what you said by saying that if Loma peaked at 130-135 in Floyd's era, the narrative around him would be much different.

I don't think Loma beats prime Castillo, Chico, or Casamayor, and i think Frietas would have a puncher's chance against him.

You bring up a guy like Manfredy, and would I pick Manfredy over Loma? No, but at the same time, Manfredy was miles better than a Walters or Martinez, so he'd probably give Loma a good go. He certainly wouldn't be blown away in 2 like he was by Floyd.

Unfortunately, the facts don't care about your feelings for Loma. The facts about how they've formed against top fighters in their careers clearly displays that there is no equality between the two. Floyd was in fact a different league than Loma. I don't have to wish this to be true. The results speak for themselves.

I don't care how many fancy pivots and flashy combos Loma put on Jason Sosa and Anthony Crolla. An ATG great on the level Floyd's at has no business losing to Lopez. I don't wanna hear any injury excuses. They're bullsh!t, and even if they were true, if you go into the biggest fight of your career injured, you aren't too bright. Postpone the fight.

I don't wanna hear any robbery excuses about Haney either. It was a close fight. An ATG has no business having a close fight with a fighter as sh!tty as Haney.

They are not the same. You look desperate trying to convince me that they are.

For all the Loma fans that always cry: "LoMa was InJuRed against LoPez."

    1. Roy beat Hopkins with only one good hand in their first fight.

    2. Floyd had an injured shoulder in the first Castillo fight, and though I thought he lost, he still managed to make it a close fight.

An ATG on the level that people say Loma is on, that Floyd/Roy level, has no business losing to a hack like Teofimo.

Salido missed weight on purpose a lot of A side fighters would have pulled out but not Loma. Salido also fouled all fight. Russell is not a dirty fighter and both made weight so it was a level playing field and Loma won.
You don't want to here injury and robbery excuses well that is up to you but IMO they are valid and if Loma had immediate rematches with Haney and Lopez I would've confidently picked him to win both but neither guy wanted it.
I totally agree that Floyd's resume is better but that does not mean he would dominate Loma.

An ATG like Roy was KO'd by a gate keeper like Glen Johnson when he was around the same age as Loma when he lost to Teo. Also Loma like Floyd had an injured shoulder against Teo but still managed to make it a close fight.

I don't think you wanna compare resumes and longevity between Roy and Loma "lad". It's an argument that Loma is gonna get slaughtered in.

Loma isn't in Toney's league, let alone Roy's. I'll actually take that further... Michael Nunn was better than Loma. Nunn sure AF had a better resume of wins.

And you already admitted to not being much of a historian. My guess is... you come across as a newer fan who doesn't have much reference for how good Jones was, for over a decade.

Arguing Loma over Floyd is daft enough. If you at all try to make the case for Loma being as good as a prime Jones, then i think even a lot of Loma fans will cringe.

I watched Roy Jones as a kid and I thought he was the best to ever do it he was my favorite fighter but when I got older I found out that he was a drug cheat.

Roy being a juicer has been disproven many times, including on this very form. If you wanna call someone like Mosley or Pac a juicer fine, but if you're referring to that "ripped fuel" thing with Roy, try again.

All i see you doing on this thread is attempting to tear down the resumes of first Floyd, now Roy, to distract from the fact that you can't boast about the resume of Loma, because it's underwhelming.

I agree that both Floyd and Roy's resume's are better than Loma's. I am saying that Loma is on the same elite level as them as a fighter. Loma is a clean athlete though the same can't be said 100% for Roy (steroids) and Floyd (IV use)
