Watched this fight for the umpteenth time the other day - what a corker. Jhonny's a beautiful fighter to watch, heavy handed with great body attacks but in the end Izzy's power caught up with him in the end - think they're both great fighters to watch. Anyone else enjoy this classic ?
Its an underated classic. Never really mentioned in the same breath as Corrales-Castillo I, Marquez-Vasquez (I, II and III), Gatti-Ward trilogy and Barrera-Morales I, but in my book its just as good. Vasquez had real problems with Jhonny's reach at the start, and was trailing massively by the middle rounds. Unfortunately for Gonzalez he gassed down the stretch, as much from hitting Izzy as from Vasquez' pressure. Vasquez kept pressing on him and forced the corner stoppage, if I recall properly.
