Vasquez should stick to doing the fighting and leave the career advice to someone else. Ortiz is a young fighter with shaken confidence. I would give him six months completely away from boxing and then bring him back with an easy fight against a light puncher. Then about a year or so from now, he should look for a rematch IF it makes sense. The point is to develop a fighter so he can win a title, not take a chance of wrecking his career before it starts.

Maidana would beat him again unless he learns how not to fight another man's fight.

If Izzy Vasquez says jump, you better ****ing jump.

If you ask "How High?", He'll punch you in the face. You should already know by now.

Victor will need to avenge this loss someday soon, but for right now I think it would be a mistake. I would still put Ortiz in tough (in his next fight) someone that can go some rounds and give a decent fight. Juan Lazcano, Vivian Harris, Ngoudjo, someone who would be a live dog.

    :rofl

I like the sound of a trilogy (especially as I see Ortiz winning a rematch). If he walked away with a pair of wins like Izzy he could possibly gloss over the bad impression in the same way Izzy did (although as noted, Ortiz had FAR less dire circumstances and not nearly the excuse to bow out).

i would go with ortiz in a rematch. i think if he just boxed and fought smart instead of like a guy who had a deathwish he would either ko maidana late or win a decision. i feel ortiz has much more talent between the two, he just needs to realize that he's not gonna ko every guy he fights in the first few rounds.

Since this is his first loss and he lost in such an epic fashion, Ortiz is going to need a few decent confidence builders (2-3 would be my guess) so a Maidana rematch is probably off limits for now.

If he doesn't wind up fighting Maidana by the end of 2012, I'll be disappointed.

Edit: FIRST LEGIT LOSS...the DQ loss doesn't count.
