Tough pick for me, personally. I wanna lean towards Jirov by a late accumalative stoppage.

I'd probably agree with you. Jirov had a very solid chin and was a non stop pressure type of guy.

And when he had to, he could box and counter pretty decently as well.

Jirov was really special back when he was a cruiserweight.

I think the Toney fight really took a lot out of Vasya; but Haye is no James Toney in terms of style or skill level.

Difficult one, Jirov is one of the best cruiserweights of all time. Probably Jirov, but very close fight to call.

    hard to say...

Jirov, head to head, is a handful for ANYONE at cruiser, and I believe that if RJJ went up and challenged him, Jirov wouldve knocked him out.

But, Haye's size, speed, and power is exceptional and IMO has beaten a better crop of fighters at cruiser than Jirov had. I just wish we could've seen Jirov face other Cruiser titlists before he was wrecked by Toney.

I think Haye is about 6'3 and can carry 225 without much trouble, right? And he's obviously very muscular and strong. Vassiliy I think is around 6'2, and he could carry 215 fairly well-and from what I remember, for a lot of Vassiliy's reign, 190 was the cruiserweight limit. He might have been stronger even if he had been allowed those ten extra pounds-he was always a hell of a conditioned boxer, coming on strong as the fight went along.

James Toney IMO was one of the greatest CWs on a H2H basis. I think he matches up well with nearly anyone in the divisions history. Jirov-Toney wasn't as close as people make it seem.

Where is Jirov these days anyway?

This fight wouldnt have been too close. Jirov would have stayed in Hayes face worked his body and worked his head. David isnt much of an infighter and isnt that elusive. Jirov might have eaten a few on the way in and Haye certainly would have the equaliser to put him away but im leaning toward Jirov who had the better credentials as an Am and as a pro.

I thought it was closer than the scorecards had it.

Toney won because he put on a clinc on the display of infighting. He was too slippery and to precise for Jirov. Those guys were pretty much in the booth and Toney owned him. It was also the best shape he`d been in for a LONG time. Im pretty sure Toney won fighter of the year for his comebacking performance.
