No I am saying he lost a narrow fight against Haney where they gave each other problems. Loma was all set to fight Tank then the reality set in which is why he pulled out then eventually retired. I don’t blame him as there is a part of me that did not want to see him leave the sport knocked out. I think he deserves better.
396-1 or whatever it is, is b.s. and not verifiable. Other than that he was a fine amateur and a highly notable professional.
I was joking. But you are right, it would be a bad thing for Loma to go out with a KO loss. Not that I believe Tank would beat Loma, let alone knock him out. To be honest, it's a shame they never fought. Very interesting match up.
Lomachenko had the greatest footwork in the game this century, and his hand eye coordination was fantastic ,he was immensely skilled' He was at his best at 126lbs but overall his tenure in the sport was actually short. I agree with what others have said about a bout with Tank, he would have been too strong and powerful for Loma at the higher weights, now in a day of fight weigh in?
I am certain Tank would have knocked him out and when Loma realised this it helped him make his decision. Smart man Loma.
Only thing certain is death and taxes. No outcome is certain when 2 guys the caliber of Tank and Loma step in the ring against eachother. I can see a way both men could win.
Of course you can it’s just that deep down Loma saw the probable outcome and thought it’s time to go.
Brilliant fighter and first ballot HOFer with ATG talent (130lbs) whom poor career management, tough luck (Haney decision), and injuries and/or overconfidence (Lopez) conspired to deny him ATG status.
Ok, Loma has had hundreds of fights in his life, but the prospect of fighting Tank makes him retire? Not that he feels cheated by the sport he loves, it's all Tank? Tank is good, maybe great, but I don't think he is the reason Loma retired. Regardless, no certain outcome if they had fought, especially if it happened 5-7 years ago.
The reality is that they were only actually scheduled to fight now and realistically Loma does not fancy his chances. The hundreds he has fought are not Tank!
