Tony Canonzeri in general. He would punk even a lot of great fighters from 126-140. I see him and Ike Williams in their primes as an even fight.
Seconded. Because he was a slugger who didn't usually punch in combinations of more than two (and he loved the hook to the body-right to the head, witness his knockdowns of Mercado and Tillis), he's often given short shrift in the hand speed department. However, back in the day, it should be acknowledged that publications like KO Magazine did cite Earnie as having underrated hand speed. I've also made the case that his chin and stamina were better than commonly described. Seven total knockdowns in 90 career bouts until he was 50 is a respectably low number for a sometimes wide open slugger of his ilk. Also, I've argued before that Frazier was a faster starter than commonly depicted. He took 13 seconds to hand Ziggy his first career knockdown before finishing Dave off a minute later, only the ropes saved Ramos from a late first round knockdown, and he did deck Daniels towards the end of the first. Had five first round knockouts to Liston's eight, and Norton's two. Displayed mobility and angles against Stander which surprise many who watch it on youtube.
Yes. It's nonsense when people just judge chin strength by the number of stoppage losses, circumstances must be looked at in all cases. If you take a sustained brutal beating, from everything & the kitchen sink, & are only stopped when totally exhausted, then it's obvious your chin was never the problem.
Chavez' & Armstrong's ability to fight backwards and/or step back then land what's necessary. Chavez', Armstrong's, & DLH's combinations. Very beautiful work when they put their punches together. DLH was not as precise as the other two at all but much of his work is pretty pleasing to watch when he throws correctly(many times he'd slap with his punches and not put enough torque in them but with the one's he did...man were they good to watch). DLH's defense DLH's & SRL's warrior hearts. They were warriors with bad intentions in the ring always giving what they could. Yes they may have been "models" outside of the ring but nothing was pretty about how they fought in the ring they were destructive. How great would a fight between them at 147 be? Wlad's chin. It's not glass and he's only been stopped by punchers(Purrity may have been the exception but Wlad was fatigued more than anything) Ali's physical strength was already said but I'll add another thing to that, he bullied a prime Foreman in clinches! People forget that fact.
