According to Lomachenko's official twitter account his amateur record stands at 396-1.

24 years old and he has that record, he could do great things when he goes pro.

 Lomachenko reckons he was robbed in that fight, I haven't seen it for a while but I remember it was close. He showed that he'd figured him out in the next fight they had in 2008 when Lomachenko dominated and clowned him :deal

There's no way that record is true. All these amateur records are massively exaggerated. I bet Golovkin has over 20 losses rather than the 5 he's supposed to have had.

Well I've never seen a record as exaggerated as Lomachenko's then. Even an ATG amateur such as Rigondeaux has been widely reported as having 12 losses. Jones, De La Hoya etc. only around 100 fights and 5 losses. I don't see any reason to lie and if you saw Lomachenko's reaction after his only loss on video then you'd probably believe it was his first loss, he was balling his eyes out.

The 1 loss seems reasonable enough, he's not lost anything at the highest level outside Selimov and has been at that level for half a decade. If he's not lost more at that standard then it's not beyond the realms of possibility he's never lost below that level, I could buy that.

Nearly 400 wins though at his age, not going to accuse Loma of lying but that's a crazy amount, how far back is he counting this record is probably key, novice contest from his early teens, possible if so.

That's the thing. You can't get 400 wins in a short time, so many of them go back to when he was a kid. Even if he was exceptional back then, he'd have losses as a kid just like everyone would do.

I don't buy his record at all. People about their amateur records because it's very hard to disprove it.

He's been boxing since he could walk, there's a video of him as a 5 year old battering some other poor kid. He hasn't lost anything since he's been on the world stage, so I don't see why he'd be losing regional fights when he's such a competitive win at all costs athlete. When he lost to Selimov in 2007 he looked like a kid who had never lost before, his reaction was one of disbelief and the tears were pouring. Selimov who had already given gold medallist Gamboa a good fight not long before, a world class guy and Lomachenko couldn't believe he lost.
Here's a video of Lomachenko battering some Cuban fighter as a junior: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJozCzwsNN0&feature=youtube_gdata_player

New interview with Lomachenko on his website, some key points:

- Says drug are more prevalent in professional boxing compared to amateurs due to poorer testing

- Says WSB can't compete with professional boxing anytime in the near future

- He says he's not interested at all in fighting in the olympics or world's again

- He says his future is decided and that WSB is just a springboard for a professional career, using it to adapt quickly to the pros

- He doesn't know if his professional promoter will be American, all the promoters he speaks to now he is telling them to wait until May (when his contract with the WSB expires), then he will decide who to work with.

Selimov got his heart destroyed by Lomachenko in Beijing when Lomachenko clowned him, Selimov hasn't been the same world class operator since. There's a chance they could fight again in the WSB :deal
