Prime Loma would rightfully be the betting favourite against anyone in and around his weight from the last 10 years. I thought he was unlucky to not get the nod against Haney, and although he lost it legitimately, I think the Teo fight was a lot closer than the judges (and general anti-European-agenda-driven boxing fans) would have you believe.

Now, I think he’d lose to Shakur and Tank. I’d actually think he’d have a good chance to beat Teo, as he’s never really fought to such an intelligent gameplan again since the Loma win.

But I think the fights to make are Muratalla for the IBF, Mason for the WBO or fight Zepeda for the vacant WBC (assuming those fights can be made).

Bringing Navarette (a former super-bantam) up to have another go at a lightweight belt that he already didn’t win against one of Loma’s compatriots (who is levels below Loma) doesn’t really do it for me, and it could look like a cherry pick, despite it making for a good clash of styles.

Why couldn't he beat Haney and Lopez?

He beat Haney he was robbed. Teo he lost fair and square. He'd beat Teo in a rematch. Haney also a weight bully yet he still lost to loma.

I am just hoping that this was his plan all along and he kept training and working on this comeback.

If he just had a long time, treating his injuries, staying healthy and training, staying sharp, i can see him having lots of success again.

Though probably he had no sparring during that time, otherwise we will probably hear about that sparring in the meantime, soon.

Why would u need that explaining to you? Are u naive or just a casual? No one other than Bill Haney thinks the correct decision was rendered that night .. so please stop acting like these things don't happen. As for Lopez, well.. he legit lost.. happens to the best of em.. Pac lost, Bivols lost, Chocolatito lost, Canelos lost.. so what..

from what I see, planned, no more top rank.

knowing him, he’s taken care of himself

    I expect minimal slipping

hope he goes to the division that best suits him

I usually don't appreciate it when a boxer comes back from retirement, but Loma has always been a very serious athlete, as well as a great champion. So I think he's thought it through carefully and we'll see him in the ring in top condition.
