Taylor is way too big for 140 and, in reality, Loma is a bit too small for 135. Lomachenko is a much better fighter so if this were P4P it's Loma all day, every day. In an actual fight the only possible weight which could reasonably work would be 140 and, Taylor's Catterall fight aside, the Brit is just too big, too strong and too good. Lomachenko could possibly flit around him like a bee and sting here and there to take a points decision. However, Loma started late in the pros, already looks older and was noticeably less mobile at 135 than he was at 130. At 140 he would be too slow and his only avenue to a win would be badly compromised.
Yeah i agree with you on all your points very accurate assessment, plus i wouldn't be surprised if Loma could indeed beat Taylor due to his great reflexes & speed with the angles he operates with, also Taylor seems noticeably slower than him, don't like to say it often but he is a very overrated fighter for a better word, Don't know if Taylor could catch him clean as much as Loma could, but Lomachenko is up at age as you mentioned as well we not knowing how he will look coming back, against Commey he looked superb, hoping he resumes from there & matches up with Haney soon after.
If it happened tomorrow at 140, Lomachenko would win in my opinion because Taylor is dead at the weight. I’m surprised he is fighting Catterall at 140 in the rematch. The BBC did a documentary with Taylor before the fight against Catterall and it showed how difficult Taylor found it to make weight.
I think that camp was seriously affected by the knee injury and a few other factors meaning a lot more of the cut had to happen in a smaller space of time than previously. We will see in the rematch if it's a poor call or not! Josh won't be the 1st fighter that regrets outstaying his welcome at a weight class, and he won't be the last!
Regarding the matchup it can probably only ever be a P4P type thing, and although I'm a big TTT fan, not many would argue against that Loma is a level above all other things being equal. But as noted above, 135 is pretty much Loma's limit and he is already giving away too much there, and Taylor has never fought @135, and he's struggling to make 140. So @135 - Loma because Taylor would be a skeleton @140 - Taylor would just be too big and would win a decision - although if he had the same 'off-night' he had against Catteral, that would give Loma a chance. Neither of these weights are a decent matchup IMO, and no other weights are even remotely feasible!
