I feel this weight suits Lomachenko, Lomachenko was something else at FW and SFW, Who wins this matchup?
Chavez walks him down and beats up Lomachenko that pretty boxing isn't going to work vs Chavez and Lomachenko would be too passive and doesn't hit hard enough to deter Chavez. I'll go with Chavez by comphrensive UD but a late TKO wouldn't be out of the question.
Chavez couldn't stop guys like Pratchett at 130. Went the distance with Lockridge and LaPorte too. Loma is absolutely on the same level as these H2H at 130, and has taken the power of next day weigh in 135s like Lopez and Linares. If Chavez wins here its by decision. Chavez really came into his own at 135. I think people see this and erroneously apply it to his 130 run too.
Loma gets stopped at both weights. Chavez was just a different level. Loma is truly one of the most overrated fighters in history.
Chavez pressures him hard for 130,you actually have to bang Chavez equally on the inside to neutralize him too, other than outboxing and out jabbing him. Take Pernell Whitaker for example,he kept Chavez smothered on the inside, with great defense and outboxes him into a draw, Meldrick Taylor fought a good game on the inside, but his defense betrayed him later on. You need to be equal with,or just be better from Chavez in all of his stats to beat him, that's why most people thought Duran has a chance.
Most people thought Duran "has a chance"? Lol. Chavez is an overwhelming underdog against a prime Duran. Its Chavez who needs to make a case for "having a chance" in that one. But I digress. Back to the topic. Chavez destroys Loma.
Chavez already has an iron chin and will walk Loma down. His body attack will devastate Loma over 10 rounds , the last two is a stoppage at any moment. Chavez was relentless and was not going to be denied forever. JCC Sr for the KO round 11
I always felt Loma’s best weight was 130 while Chavez was 135 - 140. I like Loma by decision at 130, Chavez by decision 135 or better.
Loma is a cautious fighter. After realizing how strong Chavez is, he will get on his bike and last the distance but lose a decision, something like 9-3
