I heard this fight might happen later this year. This would be a good step up for Lomachenko. I haven't actually seen any of Vetyeka's fights, because what videos there are of his fights are in terrible quality, but from what I've heard, he has a decent skill set, and is rugged. This could be Lomachenko's chance to show how he's grown as a fighter since the Salido fight. Who wins?
Vetyeka is a rugged guy who was doing well against Donaire and got screwed with a garbage stoppage. With that said I like the fight but Loma is way more skilled and will outclass him.
I've said it before, but I think the Salido fight was a great learning experience for Lomachenko. Maybe Lomachenko could spar against world champs to gain some more experience.
It really was he got a introduction into dirty fighting by a savvy vet. The loss only made him understand the pro game more. I still would like to see him get a rematch with Salido so he could get his revenge.
You know, a lot of prospects/fighters think they're invincible because they're undefeated. This was good for Lomachenko. This made him realize that he's not invincible. Sometimes, a promising fighter falls apart after their first loss.
Vetyeka was starting to pick up steam against Donaire. Too bad the fight was stopped that early. Personally, it doesn't matter who Lomachenko fights at 126, he beats everyone there.
All Lomachenko learned from the Salido fight is that dirty tactics, poor sportsmanship and incompetent refs are part of the pro game. In terms of boxing he learned nothing and was clearly superior to Salido. Maybe world champs can spar against Lomachenko to get some more experience.
Why on earth would he do that? He's created the greatest amateur of all time, who won a world title in his third pro bout. Also responsible for the dominance of the Ukrainian national team that included the likes of Usyk, Khytrov, Gvozdyk, Berinchyk. Those guys wouldn't be half the fighters they are without Anatoly Lomachenko's input.
Because his dad said he intended to eventually step away and leave his son in the hands of a pro trainer(s) His dad is NOT an experienced pro trainer His dad did a lousy job giving instructions during the Salido fight His dad was telling him to not hit his opponent too hard in his last fight Just off the top of my head...
