Is he gonna turn pro after London 2012? I believe I read that somewhere. Anyone know much about him and why he hasn't turned pro yet? He is the real deal.
Maybe sooner... I won't be surprised if he turns pro after the World Amateur Championships. This guy has anything to reach the top as a pro! I think he can certaily pick up a couple of alphabet belts, and might even reach Euro level!
I've watched alot of him and on the rare occasion he does get tagged he doesn't seem to even notice he got punched so I suspect it's pretty good. He used to wrestle and he works his neck alot, he likes to fight on the inside and outmuscle his opponents so he can't be too worried about being punched. Apparently he's been knocked down once though.
Flawless fighter, brilliant offensively and defensively. Terrific athlete and extremely skilled boxer, been boxing since he was 5, trained by his father. Southpaw with an amateur record of 300-1 apparently.
That's him in my avatar landing a hard jab in the gold medal match of the 2008 olympics on his way to stopping his opponent in the first round. Won the Val Barker trophy.
Ugly, red hair, has a hunch, six giant moles with hair on his face, about 5"1. Not good looking at all.
2008 Olympic Gold medal match. Lomachenko in red. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0h4eWlEREU&feature=related[/ame] 2:23, haven't seen that before. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fww195ODHB0&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFSTUehDRf4&feature=fvw[/ame]
Not every amateur jump the gun when they are offered hard cash to turn pro you know, and I have great respect for the Lomachenkos for following their own plan and not succumbing to the shitloads of money. At 22 he still has plenty of time to make history both at the amateurs and in the pros and I believe Vasyl's father said they always planned to turn professional when Lomachenko's body fully developed, so by the time the London games are over he'll be ready to showcase his talent in the money game as well, likely with a 2nd Olympic Gold medal which will double the offers.
I doubt that. He's a known quantity at this point. I doubt staying amateur gets him any different of a deal than he would get now. Every promoter out there knows he's by far the best pro prospect in the amateurs.
In terms of pure natural ability, this kid is special. Naturally, I was disappointed that he elected to return to the amatuer ranks. Honestly, what does he have to prove at that level at this particular juncture?? This is kid is a future P4P king. :deal And when/if he reaches that exalted status, Anarci will attempt to claim him as a Latino.
