    Quotes from ESB article:

    VAZQUEZ:
“My only goal is to win. A victory Saturday will set me up for my entire life. The victory will be for my fans and the sport of boxing. I am going to be throwing punches with the baddest of intentions. I want to tear Marquez apart in the ring. I am ready to fight right now. My main concern for the fight is to impose myself at all times. If Marquez wants to get into a boxing match with me and not trade shots, the fight might go the distance. If he trades blows with me, this will end before the 10th round and I will be the winner.”

    MARQUEZ:
“Please don’t miss this fight. It is going to be a war. The first two fights were wars, and this is going to be a classic battle. I miss that WBC championship belt that he took from me in the last fight. I want it back. It is a terrible feeling to lose your championship belt. There is only one thing on my mind, and that is regaining that green WBC super bantamweight belt. I will get it back.”

ME: Only 2 days left!!! :yikes:yikes:yikes

1 day! Unfortunately we'll have to sleep once but after that it's Saturday!

In a few hours we'll have the weigh-in hopefully with pictures or even better: with a video. I'll keep you updated...

Rafael Marquez will stick with his boxing plan early, and dish out punishment for about three or four rounds.. Then he will be dragged into a slugfest that might go to Vasquez advantage, but the early punishment will catch up with him and Marquez will stop him in about 8 or 9.

I think mrquez fought the wrong fight last. i reckon he will go all chiquita gonzales (in second and third fights v michael carb) on us and box carefully en route to a points decision. its really worth a small bet on this result. 6/1 odds are available.

vasquez really couldn't cope with marquez boxing skills in the first fight. the big question is if rafael can avoid getting macho

I take Vasquez by a 8th or 9th round TKO. He has the momentum from their last fight, which I believe will carry into this fight, but Marquez certainly won't go out without putting a hell of a fight. I sense this fight will go like their other two, with Rafael Marquez being the better of the two in the early rounds; however, I don't think Marquez has the one punch ko power to knock Vasquez down and OUT, because that will be the only way to discard of Vasquez in this fight. He (Marquez) may knock him down, in which it will be an all-out Castillo vs Corrales war, with both men being hurt and possibly down. However, in the end, I see Vasquez coming back and closing the gap on an early lead made up by Marquez, and ending the fight in a dramatic & devastating fashion.

In regards to the quality of the fight, you couldn't put a better match-up. Both guys match up very nicely and both has wills and hearts that will have to be crushed in order to be defeated; but something's gotta give. Yes, it's not an overly hyped match, like that of a Pavlik vs Taylor, which is why I personally value this one greater. But these fights are the gems that make boxing memorable for many fans, as you sometimes may not expect any spectacular, but it ends up being that, plus much more. In this regard, I hold Showtime with higher respect in the sense that they continue to give us some very well made up match-ups. They don't just put bouts together to sell their main in-house boxer to later sell'em on ppv's, they actually put stuff together that makes as much sense outside the ring as it does inside, but with the fights usually outperforming the hype come fight night. Way to go Showtime!

Thank god for fighters like these two. How they get so little press or money compared to larger fighters is a perfect example of what's wrong with boxing.

vazquez will sucker the better boxer into another war. im sure vazquez's cuts will reopen forcing him to be ultra aggressive. i just can't see this going to the cards. i figure marquez will try to box the first couple of rounds but will be forced to throw down by vazquez's pressure and output. i question marquez's punch resistance after the punishment he's taken. at some point, something has to give.

I've already picked a fighter when I opened the thread but I copy it here anyway:

I’d pick Vazquez as I’ve picked him before the first two fights. It appears he has the better chin. At SBW he looks the stronger of the two both in punching power and physically. They both have SUPERB boxing skills, especially offensive, and they lack a little in defense but that’s the greatest thing for the fans. Both have a good jab but I think even if Rafael’s a little bit more accurate and straight, Israel is a little bit faster and puts his combinations better together. Of course it seems that he can take the punches better. The stamina is a question, the heart is not. It’s really hard to predict a winner ‘cuz you never what will happen, who will land the decisive shots and if God forbid it will go to the scorecards WHO THE HELL WILL BE AHEAD? Predict that one bro! But I have to go with Vazquez based on the two previous fights.
