I think it would be a good idea to have them each take a tune up fight. That could happen within that time frame but it seems rushed. They have the fight but they also train there asses off for 8 weeks (I'm guessing). I just think thats a lot on the body. Especially for Marquez. His legs did not appear to be strong at all.

Those 2 guys are warriors. Israel Vasquez is going to personally replace Erik Morales (now retired) as my favorite Mexican fighter to watch fight hehe. But both Marquez and Vasquez are awesome.

It's August for ****s sake. The fight is seven or eight months away. Both have said they like to do 8 week camps and they feel ready. That gives them about six months rest.

The promoters said they don't want it this year so they can rest. Half a year is definitely more than enough.

Great news that there will be a third fight.

Vasquez says he knows what Cabellero on the undercard means. They should put him on the undercard again to set up a unification fight afterwards.

i dont think its too soon at all. they had a 5 month span between the 1st and 2nf fight and now it will be 6 or 7 months.....im sure those extra 2 or 3 months are gonna do them good. besides.....nowadays "tune ups" aint that anymore....so let them go at it.

They don't need tune ups. Tune ups do nothing for them. It means they won't be motivated and lets the public see them look bad.

If one of them is shot they did it to the other, I'd prefer one of them get the benefit of beating the other than some random get any credit for their work.

I think that's a good timeframe. Five months was too soon, whereas 6 or 7 months would be better. I guess I prefer March.

That seems like enough time off. They should just rest and heal up before the starting their eight week camps.

There is no need for either guy to have a tune up fight, IMO. It's not warranted, and there is no need to put their bodies through the stress of getting ready for another bout. Besides, the way both of them were cut, they could get cut in a tune up fight and cause a delay in Vasquez/Marquez III.

The best fighting the best, thats what fighting is about. We don't want to know who are the three best. We want to know who the BEST fighter in each division is. We always want to know. We always want a process of elimination, this is why we need the WBA champ on the undercard.

Well seeing as these guys clinched FOTY for 07 - twice - (the only serious competition on the horizon now being Mosley-Cotto) and the stakes will be even higher in the rubbermatch, I see this fight raising the bar VERY high for the rest of 2008. It'll all be downhill from April on. :yep
