Juanma will make a meal out if Concepcion, as he has little defence and Rafa seems to hit hard. The other Rafa would stand a good chance agaidt JuanMa IMO, with his power (which still seems decent at 126) and experience. Wouldn't like to see Marquez in with Gamboa though; a focused Yuriorkis would blow Marquez away IMO, but then again I'm quite big on Gamboa, despite him appearing disinterested in his last fight.
Thank Christ. I was genuinely worried about Izzy before the fight and it's one of the reasons I didn't stay up to watch it. He's had slurred speech since the first fight, shitloads of scar tissue above both eyes that has got progressively worse in all of the fights and he's increasingly looked a shadow of his former self. When I looked at the size of the torrent this morning I knew the worst had happened. Thankfully it wasn't a punishing defeat and Izzy can now retire hopefully happy with his career. I love Izzy, but he's much too brave for his own good; a true stand-out fighter amongst this generation of paper and alphabet champions. As for Rafa-Juanma, I'm looking forward to that fight now. Marquez looked decent last night (aganst the ghost of Izzy) and I'd be interested to see how Juanma would deal with him:think. Close fight, good clash of styles and it ends up going to points if it happens, IMO.
You should have bet it for this fight. Marquez looked okay last time out, Vazquez was horrible against a journeyman. All he showed in his last outing was power is the last thing to go. Didn't want to watch this fight though, Marquez is one of my favourite fighters and my respect for Izzy is too high to watch him get a pasting.
Noticed that with US crowds in the past. Seems a lot of the time they're not satisfied unless its an all action fight. Would they boo Willie Pep?
There must have been a lot of Mexicans there last night and they probably expected the Mexican fighter to stand and trade.
It was mentioned last night by Tarver. Who incedentially did a rather good job I feel. Especially his crack about the alphabet boys rushing to sanction Vasquez/Marquez with that silver belt thingy.
A pissed off showbiz/ casual crowd who only turned up because the other 3 fights were tear ups. Muppets.
Lewis was poor. I just don't like that think they do where one guy sets up the question and the other guy looks STRAIGHT into the camera to answer it. Dunno why, I just don't like it....
I don't like the 'looking right at the viewer when answering' shot either Tarver is not bad by any means. I still hold out hope for B-Hop to get a consistent role on Showtime, he's a proper analyst.
