First off, let me just say both of these guys are tremendous fighters who gave fight fans 25 rounds of great action, skill, and drama. This may be the best trilogy of all time.

On to my point. Marquez ended up giving this fight away. I know that may sound ridiculous considering Vazquez fought his ass off in the 12th, and secured a victory with KD with 10 seconds left in the fight. However, this fight was a SD and 1 judge only had Vazquez up 1 point. Marquez lost 2 points off of low blows, meaning had he just been able to keep his punches up a little higher he would have won the fight. Given his age, and the punshisment he's taken in these 3 fights, this may have been Rafa's last chance to win a title. It's a shame fouls ended up costing him this fight.

I agree with everthing you've stated except to point deduction. He was on penalized 1 point. Without this Vazquez would have retained his title by majority draw. Helluve fight though. Both guys are warriors.

I thought he had 2 points deducted. Everyone was talking and I wasn't able to hear everything, he must have only been warned the first time.

It's a shame I haven't had Showtime in almost two years. Whose the worse for wear coming out of the trilogy?

Vazquez suffered the most facial damage in all 3 fights. Rafa has been buzzed and put on the canvas more times during the trilogy. Alll in all, neither one will probably be the same again. Marquez is older, so he's probably the wores for wear.

I thought the point deduction was fair. He it was the 4th warning should the ref have waited for the 5th? I don't think so. All there is to this is that Israel Vazquez is absolutely clutch and thats it! What he did in the 12th round was legendary, it was a 3 minute burn out of nonstop punches and Marquez really really got his ass handed to him in that last round. In the 3rd I believe when Marquez dropped Vazquez..Vazquez gets up and is just about a hair away from knocking Marquez down in the same round!? Both men are warriors, But it would have been totally bitter sweet to see this fight be given to Marquez considering how hard Vazquez fought down the stretch. In boxing there is no "giving this fight away", When you're in that ring expecially a war against an unbelievable fighter like Vazquez You're doing everything in your power to win a fight, If Marquez could have done better he would have but he couldn't. These guys are so good they were at 100% the entire fight and there is no way one can believe that one guy could have done this and that because that is completely unrealistic.

Definitely Marquez, He was honestly stunned and had his bell rung in almost every single round in last nights fight. I don't know how he stood up after that 12th round beating.

I agree, but vazquez isn't far behind. He took a lot of big flush shots in all 3 fights, he just handled them better at the time. It hard for me to imagine either of these guys being the same again.

You make some good points, and I don't have a problem with the point deduction. However, the fact still remains that he wouldn't have lost the fight had he not kept fouling Vazquez. Take away that point deduction and we have a draw. Now if Rafa could've stayed on his feet for antoher 10 seconds he would've won. The KD of course is a result of the skill and desire possesed by Vazquez. There was no skill displayed by Vazquez by getting hit low, that had everything to do with Rafa. In essence, Rafa gave that fight away by allowing himself to get a point deducted, a point that would've change the outcome of the fight.
