    Round 3

Perez comes out confident, marching up to Mares behind a peekaboo. Perez closing the distance and setting up combinations with looping rights. Mares goes to the body with shorter-punch combos. Perez decides that infighting and going to the body are good ideas and bends his knees to dig hooks into the midsection of Mares. Perez is now mostly eschewing defense, popping back into turtle guard after he's done punching but punching for long periods of time. Mares is trying to slip in the pocket but is getting hit some. Perez is strong, his punches are physically moving Mares. Mares begins to exchange with Perez and shows that he's got the faster hands by a good margin. They slug out the last twenty seconds. Awesome.

    Perez 10-9

    It's 29-28

This is a mistake by Mares. He doesn't have the power to fight like this.

    Round 4

Perez is in a hooky mood. He's landing much more often on Mares now than in earlier rounds. Mares is still moving his head but is too often getting drawn into the firefight and Perez is bombing him. Mares decides discretion is the better part of valor and makes with the lateral quickness. Perez lands a heavy hook, and a right. Mares still pattycaking with jabs, rights, and uppercuts, but nowhere near as thudding ass Perez's carefully selected and mean-intentioned shots. Perez combining hooks and uppercuts then reverting back to his shell. Mares flurrying with both hands and then moving his head and circling. Perez does not give chase, maybe taking a breather. Mares slows down and Perez catches up to him, they exchange against the ropes. Mares escapes to the opposite ropes and Perez punches his way after him. Mares tries to punch him away.

    Great fight so far.

I think that was clear round for Perez. Mares' volume is dropping off and he's not moving as well.
