    Mares isnt going to last.

Doesnt look like exposure either just a young prospect thrown in with the lions too quickly.

Mares needs to use his jab and follow it up with some powershots in the same combination

    Round 7

Mares still not engaging much. Perez chases with a right that backs Mares up. Mares shimmies back and jabs. Mares shoeshines and backs up whenever Perez gets close. Perez gets him on the ropes and jabs him to set something up but Mares able to slip out the side door. Mares begins to circle Perez at closer quarters and Perez is able to catch him with a right hand as Mares' gloves drifted down. Mares puts his head down and fires to the body on Perez, who responds by teeing off on the sides of his head. Perez walks Mares into the ropes yet again but the ref breaks a clinch. Perez keeps trying to pin him in place with combination punches. Mares still being very slippery and elusive.

Perez landed the better stuff; even though he got outboxed a bit again, he landed more than in round 6.

    Round 8

Perez glued to Mares from the opening bell. Perez is able to hit Mares with a jab every time he takes a lateral step. Perez trying to make something happen, between the jab and the lead hook. Perez's feet more active now, he's keeping right there with Mares. Mares forced to slug more. Mares bends down past the waist and fires out overhead to the chest of Perez. Perez still landing the jab on Mares now, and controlling the distance and pace well. Mares is circling into the hook when he goes left and the right when he goes...well, right. Perez lands yet another jab flush on the nose. Very good round for Perez, his best in a while.

    77-75 Yonnhy Perez
