4 oz gloves. Honestly, I think boxing gloves in general are a total tragedy right now. I think 154 and under should wear 6 oz gloves, and 160 and over 8 oz gloves. It's a boxing match, not a pillow fight, just enough to protect your hands is fine. They fought with smaller gloves in boxing's past, why not now? Also, have you SEEN Winky Wright's gloves? They are SHIELDS. It detracts from the original intent of the sport, which of course, is who wins a fist fight. You don't find out who wins a fist fight the most accurately when the fighters can wear gloves that easily protect their entire head. I like the idea that smaller gloves place a bigger emphasis on head movement, which would be more important in a no gloved fist fight (can you imagine someone trying Winky Wright's peekaboo defense with no gloves? They would be absolutely hammered). Plus, lighter gloves mean more KOs, which, oddly enough, means less brain damage. A one punch KO doesnt do near the damage that a sustained 12 round fight does. Getting hit over and over and over, but not with enough force to KO you, thats what causes the parkinsons syndrome.
