If I was his trainer I'd spend a few months in the gym to teach him about head movement and defense. Then I would take on the following fighters. Jose Spearman Donnie McCrary Walid Smichet Then the rematch with Vera!
I think age (mental/physical maturity), played a factor in Lee's performance vs. Vera compared to Duddy's war with Campas. I also like the immediate rematch with Vera, that could speed up his recovery alot quicker.
You can't teach a fighter natural toughness, somehting fighters like Pavlik Hopkins have. Lee doesn't have it and never will.
Unless Lee gets MUCH stronger, he'd get stopped again. Vera is MUCH too strong for him. Lee's punches were laughed at by Vera who walked right through them. When Vera hit Lee though, Lee wasn't laughing... he was hurting.
Lee should move on with his career and let someone else knockout Vera. Lee could knockout Vera if they were ever to rematch -- If he wouldve doubled up that left hand or threw a right hook after the straight left he wouldve knocked Vera out in the second round. Vera is not strong at all and he really isn't as talented as Lee ... Thats dumb to say that Vera is too strong!!
