Your basing that off him fighting in the UFC where the stance will always be different because you attack and defend differently. Paulie is a punk and unless he fights someone with no power and negative win ratio he would lose to almost any fighter...
What is truly amazing is how a weight bully with no ground game can hold a multi billion dollar company hostage for equity/partial ownership. Those Fretitas(sp) brothers sure sold at the right time.
He tired in their first fight too, and he had been training for a 155lb fight in that one - so he wasn't too muscle bound.
We can see how he looks boxing from the sparring videos too. His stance doesn't change in those. Guy doesn't use his right hand much at all, also. He would get shown up by any elite boxer.
He didn't pace himself at all, exhausted himself trying to KO a much bigger man who was probably walking around at 180-190 fight night.
Nate Diaz is a 155 fighter. When he fought at 170 he was undersized and moved down because of that. He was never a legit 170 fighter. That's just some narrative Conor fans like to use to make his loss and win and the rematch seem better than it actually was.
He's both a 155-170 fighter. But he's a massive 155er and an average sized WW. I'm a fan of McGregor not a fanboy... So there's no narrative from me. Diaz was certainly legit at 170. He beat some solid fighters like Davis, Markham and according to some was robbed against Kim. His only clear loss at the weight was Macdonald who at the time was a blue chip prospect and at of course went on to be elite in division. The loss is what it is. He took a risk against a dangerous guy and payed for it. He won the rematch. End of discussion.
No. Diaz is a lightweight. He moved down after the MacDonald fight because he is better suited for LW than WW. He's better at LW, has better wins at LW, and is the right size for LW. He's a lightweight. He's also considered to be a gatekeeper in the sport, lol. The wins that you're mentioning at WW aren't even good wins.
How am I a condescending troll? Really, Nate isn't a WW. The only reason they fought at WW both times is because Nate couldn't cut down to LW at that time because he was a last minute replacement and for the second fight Conor wanted the exact same conditions as the first fight. If Nate was a real WW he would have been fighting at WW the whole time and not at LW. Nothing really supports him being a legit WW.
Except for the fact that he's beat solid gatekeepers and was robbed by Kim. Only one legit loss in the division. Cerrone isn't a legit WW either by your criteria.
Cerrone has looked pretty good at WW. Well find out soon which is a better fit for him, but I expect it to be WW and not LW. He seems to be on the fence about which weight class he wants to stay out. His fight against Matt Brown should be a good gauge to see where he's at even with Matt's recent string of losses. This depends on how you interpret gatekeeper. Because the UFC roster is smaller than boxing when I say "gatekeeper" when talking about UFC I mean guys outside of the top level, guys that will likely never ever be champion. The guys that Nate fought at WW, aside from Rory, aren't top 5 and you have to look at how Rory beat Nate. Nate shouldn't be getting ragdolled like that and the only person Rory was able to do that is Nate. Nate Diaz is undersized for Welterweight. Conor too. They were both just lightweights that didn't really cut weight for their first fight. In their second fight Nate and Conor both may have packed on a bit more weight, but that's kind of silly since 170 is not the idea size for either man.
Of course Paulie would win. Jeez it amazes me how many people seem to think a guy who had relatively good striking in MMA could somehow beat a top boxer under boxing rules. Not going to happen!!! That's not a knock against McGregor, it's just different rules and he would suffer because of that.
