Impressive but also very expected. Surprised to see a debate about the stoppage, I’m usually more on the side of calling stoppages early and believing there should be every chance given, but Lubin was done. I felt he was done as soon as he sat on the ropes and invited the hooks to be honest, he is not built for that. Especially from Ortiz. I’ll quickly commend the ref for what I feel was a super job to get in there and stop those final blows on Lubib’s flailing body.

It’s obvious what we need, I’m still not overly confident we get it. Tough one to call, Ortiz undoubtedly has better opposition but maybe Boots passes the ‘eye test’ more. Ortiz is proof in the pudding though, love the fight, top 3 in boxing easy.

she actually generates solid views and ticket sales. I don’t get why, but she does.

Ortiz put him on autopilot. Its kinda crazy how Lubin´s body went limp but at the same time kept the defensive posture.

Lubin is just horrible and will never make even the slightest adjustment. How do you stay on the ropes and let your opponent hook around your guard with the same exact punch three consecutive times? But then again he is the same guy that let Fundora land the same uppercut 200 times. Lubin needs to retire, I honestly have no idea how he made it to the world class level.

I'm sure others question why I refer to punches to the head as punches to the mind but this fight was a perfect illustration as to why I do and moreover why I'm 100% correct to do so

Lubin wasn't out on his feet because he had been dicombobulatized by a punch to the head

He was discomboulatized because he had been hit by a punch or sequences of punches to the mind, in this instance the side of the mind.

Yes, the mind is protected by a shell known as the skull or the cranium but when have your ever heard someone say a fighter was knocked out by a shot or sequence of shots to their skull or cranium? Exactly, never

He or she was KO'd by a ''headshot'' not a cranium or skull shot

And if we follow that line of faulty reasoning then the skull/cranium is also covered/protected by skin and hair so it would be just as correct to say the fighter was knocked out by a punch to the hair or skin on their head, right?

If you want to make the argument that the mind is also enclosed and protected by the brain then by all means you are free to believe that but in order for that theory to hold up you have to pinpoint the exact location the mind sits inside the brain and you won't be able to do that :deal:

Good stoppage. Lubin was clearly short circuited and was about to eat several un-needed shots in selection. Anyone who might claim that the fight hadn't reached its natural conclusion would be missing the point. Lubin was already out, even if he wasn't on the canvas.

At first I thought it was an early stoppage, but from this angle I can see it was a good stoppage. He was helpless, out on his feet.

    Huge performance by Ortiz.

I dont buy the immediate "Lubin was shot" claims.

Hes 30 and coming off 3 solid wins.

    When did he get "shot"?

I favor ortiz over boots. just like i did 5 years ago. i dont like how boots fights under pressure, and ortiz brings a lot of it. effective pressure. i think boots is faster than ortiz, so hes going to be successful when he gets off first, but hes going to struggle with what comes back at him afterwards. i also liked the caution ortiz showed with his pressure last night. he stayed on his toes as he probed for openings ready to spring back in defense. thats what makes it effective. he keeps you working by poking and prodding you at all times then gets into safe defensive position when you attack and expend more energy.

I was watching and asking why is Lubin just laying on the ropes. He never made an attempt to get out of there. No head movement or anything. Just a stupid move. He got what he deserved. He fought like he wanted to get knocked out so Virgil obliged him.

I think Lubin got slightly stunned before he ended up on the ropes.

I noticed Ortiz pulling a couple of Loma moves vs Lubin and I was like I wonder if he's a fan of his and sure enough I was right
