In light of the fight not happening, I think you are right

I think I'm over this fight now. Time for both fighters to go in different directions with their careers.

    :deal:

Thankfully, a potentially fatal disaster has been averted.

This is serious **** that you just don't bounce back from overnight. Yeah, Vergil is a fellow Aries, and we hate acknowledging weakness of any kind and certainly aren't fond of slowing down for anything. But I think it's high time that Vergil takes a step back, assess his future and give serious consideration to calling it a day. As much as that sucks, his body clearly doesn't react well to cutting weight, he's also not quite large enough to be a player at 154 yet. So he's stuck in that precarious position many fighters find themselves in, of being too big, yet too small. I doubt it's currently roids related, maybe from the past, but one would have to be demented to keep risking their life after not one, but two of these episodes, and I don't think Vergil is that sinister or that stupid. But I do think he's that stubborn, and is pushing himself above and beyond on a consistent and dangerous basis. So if his handlers and family care about him in the least, and I'm sure they do, he's seems like a really good kid. I think it's high time they sit down and have the talk.

This sucks.. agree that Vergil seems small for 154. With Jermell going up I think he can beat most of the 154 dudes. He'd probably beat the crap outta Tim Zoo.

Damn bro Ortiz had to pull out.. he fainted. He can't make 147 no more without issues.

I'm actually a bit worried that it's even worse than that, they had to give him mouth to mouth after he fainted. He needs to call it a day, it's depressing as hell, and might go down as one of the most profound "what ifs" in modern boxing. But his health needs to come first.

That's sad, dude had the potential to be the next WW Kingpin and a HOF talent, it would have been between him and Ennis. He should have just went up to 154, it's not like it's a bunch of elite dudes up there. Hopefully his career isn't over.

I mean Danny Jacobs survived cancer and was told he'd never walk again and became a better fighter after that. If Vergil has the will there's a possibility he comes back stronger and better.

I hope so bro. Ortiz is somebody you wanna root for, but he needs to pay attention to his body. Maybe 154 is worth a shot.

Another example of there never, ever, ever being a good reason of letting a fight 'marinate'

This fight should have happened 18 months ago. Ennis should have followed that.

Crawford and Spence were never fighting these young guns. Now he might be retired without anything to show for it.

If he comes back to 154 I think he just ends up as Tim Tsyuzu's dog food.

Lopez vs Gamboa comes to mind of a fight they let marinate.
