Announced by GBP earlier this evening; 1/6/24 at the Virgin Hotel Theater in Las Vegas. 12 rounds scheduled at light middleweight, airing live on DAZN.

This will be the undefeated Texan's debut at 154lbs. Despite mostly being known for his own work down at welterweight, the Ghanaian has fought in this division several times. (all three of his career defeats transpired at 147lbs)

Lawson took all of 2022 off but has fought twice in this year; Ortíz will have taken all of 2023 off and enter from a 17 month layoff.

One of those W's should be an L.:deal:

    Round 1 Lawson 10-9 close
    Round 2 Villalobos 10-9
    Round 3 Lawson 10-9
    Round 4 Lawson 10-9
    Round 5 Lawson 10-9
    Round 6 Villalobos 10-9
    Round 7 Villalobos 10-9
    Round 8 Villalobos 10-9
    Round 9 Villalobos 10-9, close
    Round 10 Villalobos 10-8

Lawson completely out of gas, got the living snot beaten out of him from start to a brutal finish. That's a 10-8 without a knockdown.

    96-93 Villalobos

Great news, boxing’s best offensive machine is back in action. Hope everything is fine with him health wise.

Hopefully that extra 7lbs is the buffer he needs.

Well it’s fight week, Ortiz is gonna answer a lot of questions about his health and how he feels at 154. No matter what though, Lawson is getting slaughtered, even if Ortiz isn’t the same.

New weight, but both have most of their work at lower weights and it's a guy who has shown frailty at his former weight so I predict the ko streak continues for Ortiz. It won't be a legit size issue here. Hell I personally don't think Ortiz runs into size issues until 160

Hyped to see him back in the ring after so long, let's see how much the weight jump is going to help him though.
