Vergil Ortiz Jr. is set to make his ring return on the 6th of August. This is of course his longest break from boxing since turning pro, a total of 357 days ring absence for Vergil Ortiz Jr.

No opponent or venue has yet been announced. It is possible that Michael McKinson, whom Michael McKinson was scheduled to face back in March, could be lined up yet again.

Vergil Ortiz Jr. has apparently recovered from a serious illness that had afflicted his liver and body. Dazn have set aside 6th August for his anticipated return.

Young hungry fighters Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Jaron Ennis is what makes boxing so exciting. I look forward to seeing these to tear the division up and eventually face each other, as well as the big fish in Errol Spence Jr. and Terrence Crawford.

Pretty scary what he went through, assuming it's legit. Which I assume it is given the length of his absence.

I wouldn't doubt he had that illness. It would be such a strange pick if he and his team were faking it. And I doubt he got cold feet from the opponent he was scheduled to face, Michael McKinson, who Ortiz Jr, should have dispatched without cause for concern.

Didn’t specify the weight-class. Should we be expecting him back at welterweight?

I have a feeling his next fight will either be a catch-weight or at 154. His last two times on the scales have tough and one of the side effects of his illness is unintentional weight gain.

Against Maurice Hooker he was around 1 pound over on the scales and then successfully weighted in on the 147 limit on his second attempt. He weighed in on the limit of 147 against Egidijus Kavaliauskas but did look drained.
