yes, it sounded so weird that avanesyan took this fight. He decided not to fight at world level again after a fight with lamot peterson....imagine what could happen to him after fighting vergil. I'm a big avanesyan fan, but this guy has no intention at all to fight in the world scene. He's more than happy smashing tomatos in europe.
Avanesyan is based in Britain and there's still a lot of resentment and anger towards Ortiz over here from fans and boxers alike for him ducking his step up to Brit Level against Michael McKinson. Even though we all knew that McKinson was going to suck him into a vortex of British slickness unlike anything he'd ever seen, experienced or imagined before we respected the fact he was willing to step up to the plate to take the test. But when he pulled out all that respect went out the window and not only that but by doing so it robbed McKinson of the big break he'd been waiting and hoping was just around the corner for years.
