How about you clowns go and find someone who can beat him? Where is that Charlo chick anyway? Tell me, who could Tszyu have possibly fought to this point that he has avoided? This sport needs more people like Tszyu who fight regularly, don't run for the hills or hold the sport to ransom (Charlo 3 fights in 4 years at 154 is a cancer on the place), entertain and behave like adults. Tim Tszyu will go anywhere and fight anyone. He cannot do anymore than he is doing. Give me a proper guy like Tim Tszyu over any number of your American hypejobs. Every. Day. Of. The. Week.
I never implied anywhere in that post that Tim ducked Charlo. Charlo totally ducked Tim, there's no denying that. He knew there was a chance he would lose, and chose to get bigger money for his second loss than losing to a relative nobody in American's eyes, which would lower his asking price for a potential Canelo payday. Do I think Charlo was scared of Tim? Not really, he had more of a chance beating Tim than Canelo 2 divisions north, it was a shallow business decision, simple as that. The point of that post was to point out, as people are deriding Oriz's resume, that in reality, Tim doesn't have much to write home about either.
Are you on this thread hyping Tim's resume and throwing off on Ortiz's? No, you're not. So what the **** are you quoting me for? That wasn't directed at you. I couldn't care less if you support Tim or not, that wasn't the point of that post. Not like it would change the mind of an unflappable Mundine loyalist anyway.
So... you think a few people on a boxing forum who some would class as haters, who are rooting for Tim to lose, backing some bummy American fighter to win, means that said bummy fighters are now somehow P4P beasts? What the hell is wrong with you? Misplaced hype and misplaced hope doesn't equal quality of resume. Get that straight. Nothing I said was inaccurate. I could do the same thing to Ortiz's resume, because at this point, it isn't necessarily all that strong either. But the fact that you and most of Tim's backers naively think his resume is somehow superior is what I find hilarious. No, they're on near equal footing. Both have had a laundry list of B and C level opponents put in front of them, including multiple opponents that present a stylistic challenge to both and they've both passed the tests with flying colors, granted Vergil more impressively so, with his 100% KO ratio. So sorry, there's no area where you can get off beating your chest about Timmy's resume, as if his is somehow levels above Vergil's, because that's simply not the case. As of right now, Vergil is less proven at 154 than Tim, so he has that on him, but that's about it. So anyone picking Vergil with a degree of certainly is being naive, but if he adjusts to the weight well and retains his power, it's a 50/50 fight.
Tim's resume is significantly stronger than Ortiz's. That's not a slight on Ortiz, it is just a fact. And Tim is proven at 154. What has Ortiz done at 154? Seriously, why wouldn't we defend Tim here? He's been trashed by everybody and has done precisely nothing wrong. Reverse the roles and be honest about it...let's say a few of us Aussies started a thread in here about an Aussie guy who had just beaten an unranked Ghanaian cleaner with a brain aneuryism (in what, his first fight at 154?) and has a big record against predominantly cans but with 2 or 3 half decent names at 147 but no belts and no title fights to his name and made a claim that he would "murder" an undefeated American champion at 154 who is seen as, if not the best fighter in the world at that weight, the second best fighter in the world at that weight. How do you think such a discussion would go down?
That's bull****. It just is. Tszyu has beaten plenty of guys at 154 who are highly ranked. He has beaten at least 2 ex-world champions. AT 154. Who has Ortiz beaten? How many ex-world champions. At what weight? What is his best win? Has he been in with anybody as good as Mendoza or Harrison at 154? If you think that their CV's are even remotely comparable, then sorry pal but you are a moron. As for Ortiz being "less proven" at 154 well that is a really disingenuous argument that dilutes the message. Ortiz is not less proven at 154, he is UNPROVEN at 154. But he's American so that obviously means he is much better than he actually is.
No it wasn't everybody, Drenlou said he thought Ortiz would win and you immediately went on the defensive (as in first response to this thread) and started attacking Vergil, saying he's a can crusher with a joke resume. So now some delusional excuse from a shitty ref like Weeks is the gospel truth? The MSAC cleared Lawson, there was no aneurysm. We're not talking about resumes at 154, but resumes in general, and they're fairly even in that regard. I added above, I don't think anyone should pick Ortiz with any amount of certainly, especially after coming off of as many health issues as he has, and fighting in a new division that he's completely unproven in. However, if he continues to rack up KO victories and shows no ill effect to his health struggles, then yes, he should be considered a player at 154 and a threat to Tim.
Good call mate. Also he fought Harrison when he didn't have to. He took the hardest fight possible, instead of the easiest. Same case with Mendoza. He risks it all when he doesn't have to. Unlike the other '' guy '' who ran, hid, hopped, jumped, then disappeared like a magician.
First off, I'm one of the biggest hypers on this site of non-American fighters including several Australians, I've pick against Americans so frequently, that for the last decade the majority of the site have flung Anti-American accusations repeatedly. Hell, I'm picking Kholmatov to do an absolute number on Ray Ford in a few weeks. So that bull**** claim isn't applicable to me in the slightest. As far as I go, I wouldn't call this a ringing endorsement of Harrison. If anything, I was giving Tim more credit than he deserved with the under 5 prediction. World titles don't mean **** to me, and never have. There's a cavalcade of absolute jokes with titles. That might impress you, but it doesn't impress me. But morons are usually easily impressed by vapid **** like that. All I see is you and the other Aussies freaking out that a few people think Ortiz has a chance, while a handful said Ortiz wins, the rest (most of them Americans) say, we have to wait and see how well he does at 154 first. Now calm the **** down, you're the one who's been consistently overreaching to virtually everyone this whole thread.
Verg unless the health issues he had really has derailed his career. I think @CST80 made a thread about it.
Bull**** mate. And don't tell me to calm the **** down. Every time somebody mentions a fight that Tszyu partcipates in then the usual braindead fools run in to tell us how Tim is a hypejob, how Tim is dining out on his father's name, how Tim has beaten nobody. There is a distinct bias towards American fighters on this forum (I am not directing this at you specifically) and if you cannot see that then I suggest your eyes must be painted on. Aneurysim or no ****ing aneuryism, the guy Ortiz beat on the weekend is a bum. An outright, deadset can. And now Ortiz has called Tszyu out, the idiot talk has started that he'd beat the best guy at 154. After beating the 100th best guy? And I am the one overreacting? Hilarious.
As the Mayor of Aussie boxing it is my responsibility to go into bat for Aussie fighters when I feel they are being unfairly scrutinised I owe a debt to the Aussies on this forum in my bid to have the Australian forum reopened. If it was back open the Tim Tszyu hype would mainly stay in there and you would not have to see it on the general.
Tszyu is still being underrated by some, and overrated by others, however, there is no denying that he has stepped up to fight the best available fighters every time, something that Canelo, Bud, and Charlo for example have not done. I'm not saying he is better than these fighters, but he is good for boxing and has let his fists do the talking. Then there is the PBC shill in Charlo talking **** about Tszyu until he has no more rocks to hide under, and then he shuts up. The fact Charlo ducked Tszyu says something. Moving to Ortiz, an up and coming fighter with a great record on paper, but who has he beaten? This is no Arthur Beterbiev, even though he has a comparable record on paper. There is still some uncertainty about the outcome of a Tszyu vs Ortiz fight. Most of this uncertainty stems from the Ortiz side - he hasn't fought remotely the resume of Tim, he has fought predominantly at 147, and has had health issues. It is possible that the eye test is real and Ortiz is too good for Tim, but there is no firm evidence to verify that fact. One of the greatest analytical weaknesses here is the assumptions made when a boxer KOs a tomato can. If Ortiz doesn't go ahead with the fight we have our answer. If they fight, we will have the definitive answer. The Tszyu fans are justifiably frustrated - Tim is the only one speaking with his fists, yet he still remains "untested". Remember, Charlo wouldn't fight him, and he has beaten everyone else at 154. Let's just hope they settle this in the ring. Otherwise it will be a long drawn put "Wilder is the greatest ever" type scenario, until it is proven definitively that it isn't true. We will find out with Fury. We will find out with Vergil Ortiz.
