Vergil Ortiz vs Tim Tszyu, Who Wins?

Tszyu is still being underrated by some, and overrated by others, however, there is no denying that he has stepped up to fight the best available fighters every time, something that Canelo, Bud, and Charlo for example have not done. Moving to Ortiz, an up and coming fighter with a great record on paper, but who has he beaten? This is no Arthur Beterbiev, even though he has a comparable record on paper.

There is still some uncertainty about the outcome of a Tszyu vs Ortiz fight. Most of this uncertainty stems from the Ortiz side - he hasn't fought remotely the resume of Tim, he has fought predominantly at 147, and has had health issues.

It is possible that the eye test is real and Ortiz is too good for Tim, but there is no firm evidence to verify that fact. One of the greatest analytical weaknesses here is the assumptions made when a boxer KOs a tomato can. If Ortiz doesn't go ahead with the fight we have our answer. If they fight, we will have the definitive answer.

The Tszyu fans are justifiably frustrated - Tim is the only one speaking with his fists, yet he still remains "untested". Remember, Charlo wouldn't fight him, and he has beaten everyone else at 154.

Let's just hope they settle this in the ring. Otherwise it will be a long drawn put "Wilder is the greatest ever" type scenario, until it is proven definitively that it isn't true. We will find out with Fury. We will find out with Vergil Ortiz.

It's too early for Ortiz he definitely has more potential but he'd need 2 more fights before fighting Tim. It's a great matchup tho

Your opening post said that Ortiz blows out Tszyu inside 6 rounds. That doesn't sound like a great fight. That sounds like you think it's a mismatch.

Do you still hold that view?

My respect for Tim Tszyu went up after his fight with Fundora, he showed a warrior mentality to fight with that cut on his head for 10 rounds and fought well, and didn't make any excuses. I think Tim and Vergil match up well.

Tim was a warrior long before the Fundora fight some people just don't know what their watching and refuse to give certain fighters credit.

Tim never lived off his father's name. Others "lived" off it and profited from it. Tim could not help his name and always wanted to be recognised for what HE WAS as a fighter in his own right. Hence his exclamation " What's MY M***** F****** NAME"

Just who has Timbo beaten?

Wade Ryan is a tricky operator for bums looking to get found out, everyone else beats him fairly easily, he was basically already a journeyman when they fought.

Jack Brubaker, about as Aussie level as they come, aside from the controversial gift over Nurse, never had a truly notable win.

Bowyn Morgan, unproven on every level, most of his opponents, even the hardcores haven't heard of.

Dwight Ritchie, RIP, but aside from a few domestic level bums, never had a notable win, also no power to speak of.

Jeff Horn, so... here's the impressive one, oh wait... pre-Bud shellacking it would've been impressive, but post nearly being beaten to death by Michael Freaking Zerafa twice, come the **** on! He wasn't ripe for the picking, he was severely bruised and rotten to the core. I can't think of a Top 15 LMW that wouldn't have beaten him at that time.

Dennis Hogan, I really like him and he got stiffed against Munguia. But pretty much anyone who cuts the ring off well will beat him. One of Tim's better wins.

Steve Spark, the win means next to nothing. He was fresh off a move from 140 to 147 , and he couldn't polish off Brubaker, so his power hadn't carried up, then he moves up to 154 where has even less power. He immediately dropped back down to 140 after this quick big payday.

Takeshi Inoue, another guy I like, but also another guy who's never had a notable win to his name. He's best known for getting outworked for 12 rounds straight against Munguia. Recently went life and death with absolute novice Weljon Mindoro, who was blowing out of his ass for the last 8 rounds.

Terrell Gausha, who managed to drop Tim fairly hard in the first round, here in the States, is a virtual nobody. Never had a big win, aside from that horrendous scrub Jamontay Clark, best known for being ravaged by Golub, Rosario and Fundora, and getting Papa Al to protect his ass twice. Gausha has lost every time he's stepped up, shut out by both Lara and Lubin, who ain't that great himself.

Carlos Ocampo, has beaten exactly who again? He's a can crusher who's been feasting on Mexican cab drivers his entire career. His three claims to fame, he got his guts ripped out by Spence in 1, then beat Zewski who's one of the biggest jokes Canada has produced in the last decade. Then he lost wide to Fundora, sure he went the distance with him, but so did Sergio Garcia who got ransacked by Yoenis Tellez. Fundora also couldn't stop 6 fight novice Daniel Lewis.

Tony Harrison, the biggie that they all love to brag about! Here in the US, he's not held in high regard. He's primarily known for his terrible gas tank and glass jaw. The man got ragdolled by friggin Willie Nelson and Jarrett Hurd for Christ sake. He also came within a **** hair of being KO'd by goddamn Cecil McCalla, who couldn't crack an egg. Tony also struggled mightily with an ancient Ishe Smith and got perhaps the gift of the year over Bryant Perrella who systematically took him apart, Bryant's two claims to fame was being violently KTFO by Abel Ramos and Yordenis Ugas, who couldn't legit stop Mike Dallas. ToBut.... but.... but Tony beat Jermello! Yeah and? I picked him to beat Jermell. Because Jermell is a ****ing terrible boxer. He relies mainly on his KO to bail him out, after being outboxed on at least 10 occasions. This time he wasn't so lucky, but he got even in his next outing. So congrats to Tim, he's WIllie Nelson level!

Brian Mendoza, huge fan of the guy and he's one of Tim's better wins. But let's be honest here, Rosario is a glass cannon who was sparked by Gallimore before he lucked out by being put in the ring with another glass cannon in J-Rock. Sure his win over Fundora was impressive, one I also predicted, and why is that? Because Fundora had almost been KO'd by Lubin the year before, and has been a KO waiting to happen for years. Aside from that, what has Brian done exactly? I'd love to spin his loss to Ramos, but I can't, at best he won two rounds. Hell, Ramos performed way more impressively than Tim did, certainly won more rounds. I'd also like to say he deserved to win over nobody Larry Gomez, but he didn't, at best it was a draw. He also couldn't KO Cornflake Lamanna which is just shameful. So sure, Brian is improved, but improved how much, we don't really know.

So cool it with the hyperbolic non stop chimney load of smoke you're blowing up his ass. He's beaten three Americans most people here couldn't pick out of a goddamn lineup. Partially because the sport is basically dead, and also because they're simply not names. Harrison maybe people know, because he got a close win over Jermell and then got KTFO out by him. So give it a rest about Americans fearing this clowny jackass, because no one is sweating him in the least.
