I usually back guys like Ennis over guys like Ortiz. History has shown that fast, dynamic movers are the best fighters. Come forward guys like Ortiz always get found out at the very top.
I agree with you on Fundora. He is only getting better. If he masters using his reach and keep the fight at his range, he would be an absolute monster. Very tough to beat. The 2nd Tszyu fight was just the beginning of what's to come. Nobody walks through him.
he was robbed in the ennis fight ? First one was 120-8 across the board second one ennis dropped him and won 119-107, 117-109, and 116-110 … where are you getting robbed from?
Have you actually seen the second fight? Literally almost no one on the RBR had it for Ennis. As always the official score cards are not to be trusted.
Yeah it wasn’t a good fight but I thought books clearly won Karen would’ve had to win 8-4 to consider it getting robbed being dropped and all
I see Ortiz vs Ennis similar to Shakur vs Zepeda but with alot more power on display. If Ennis decides to ride the shots along the ropes, similar to how Shakur fought alot of the first half of the fight, i think it will favour Ortiz. I dont expect Ennis to do that, i think Ortiz will look brilliant for the first 3, eventually i think Ennis gets into a rhythm and takes him out. Ortiz for me doesnt have many levels more to show, i think Ennis aint been in with someone good enough to bring the best out of him. Give me Ennis stoppage between 8-10. Ortiz vs Charlo, Ortiz vs Zayas, 2 fights id be very interested in. I still dont know how good Zayas is. Ortiz vs the rest of the 154lbers, i fancy him to win fairly comfortably. Id also like to make a point of weight bullying. Ennis is one of the biggest weight bullies out there. This guy will be better as he goes through the weights to his more natural weight as he ages. Really wish same day weigh ins was a thing. Goes for all combat sports.
Not at 175 and above. Usually movers get walked down in the higher weights. But yea, since they fight at 154 where power isn't a big deal then yes, Boots probably runs and hugs his way to a decision.
Usyk, Bivol. I'm not necessarily saying runners. Bivol beat the more stationary Beterbiev. Usyk beat all the big behemoths. Mostly due to him moving better and being faster. Prior to Usyk, Fury was the best HW, another dynamic mover.
Beterbiev beat him at 39 and would have crushed him if they were the same age. Usyk is not a mover. He stands in the pocket. By the way Frazier crushed Ali.
Usyk moves a lot. He's moving laterally. It's one of his best assets. Stands in the pocket? What do you mean? He just stands there? Have you seen him fight? He's moving nonstop. Just cause he doesn't fight at long range doesn't mean he's standing in the pocket.
Usyk does not give ground. He doesn't move backwards constantly. He fights nothing like your typical Lightweight runner.
Running as a boxing strategy actually works in the lower weights because they can't bust an egg. It doesn't work in the higher weights because they just corner you and knock your block off.
I think this is why his handlers are moving him so slow and make him cut so much weight; I think they don't trust his chin. All his fights are either tune-ups or bouts against shot fighters that he has a massive size advantage over. His best wins are two horrible performances against Karen (who can't punch), Stanionis coming off a tune-up, surgery and a long layoff (also can't punch) and the supposed power-punching Villa who was totally exposed past his national level and was brutally knocked out by an unknown Mexican. To me, the most telling was the Karen fights. He fought boots negatively in the first fight and showed Boots cannot fight coming forward, then fought him very aggressively in the rematch and clearly hurt him several times. He's never been much of a talker, but he sounded very concussed in the post fight interview. He was slurring, stuttering, repeating himself and couldn't form complete sentences very well. I think the weight cuts are definitely taking their tolls and his chin already wasn't too good to begin with. His team know this, and want him to keep cutting as much weight as possible to give him a power and size advantage and keep the train running. I think because of this, the fight with Ortiz will never happen. My best guess is they keep him fighting cans and shot fighters until he's again emailed a belt, keep that going as long as he can make weight and repeat the process all over again.
