Coming from the world wide leader in sports,

Goossen said Williams could go after a 154-pound title, possibly WBC title held by Verno Phillips.

What do you guys think of that matchup. Looking at how poorly Verno performed, in my eyes, against Cory Spinks, I think Paul has a definite opportunity to take the title from him and hold titles at 154 and 147.

Paul Williams would beat Verno, lets remember that Verno got a gift in his last fight against Spinks.

    Isn't verno the IBF champ?

Anyway, Williams by wide UD or late stoppage.

If this fight went through it would probably be on Showtime. I wouldn't mind seeing it though, just to see Paul set himself up for some big fights.

Let me give ya the long explaination!:think

    Williams is obviously eyeing 160.

Verno holds a win over McKart.

McKart fought a draw with Marquez at 160 in his last outing.

    Marquez is fighting Abraham.

So, either this is a smart fight on several levels, or perhaps I'm just caught up in trivial bull****.:tong

WBC Light Middleweight champion is Vernon Forrest, Phillips has the IBF title.

The Punisher would knock his ass out. Verno did not in anyway deserve the win he got over over Spinks! Forest has the WBC title.

I agree. Williams is far to big and rehydrates alot at 147 to give him an unfair advantage.

Paul rehydrates to about 155. That's pretty normal for a Welter. His height and reach are what gives him an advantage.

Not to mention his boxing skills and power. I know you weren't implying that his size is the only reason he wins, but you hear that from time to time on this board and I wanted to point out that his size isn't his only weapon.

Thanks for the clarificaton on his rehydration, too. 155 is pretty standard for a welterweight.
