Man I'm still thinking about this man. pisses me off so much man... Vernon Forrest was the man. I still can't believe he was shot and killed. Just when he had a performance that redeemed him and showed that he was still great and not as faded due to his injuries and not training as hard as he did in his prime. **** still bugs me that he was gunned down like that... this guy did so much for his community, things that most people would never do, just to get gunned down by some young punks who rather than just get a fing job and get themselves together to get their own thing, try to rob a person who was a great human being and earned everything he had by putting his life on the line every time he entered the ring. Sure, the saying goes, if you live by the gun you die by it. Although he had a gun with him and ran after people who was carrying, when he didn't have to, I do not hold anything against him wanting to shoot them for that.

Just can't believe it. Became a fan of this guy when I saw him brutally destroy Mosley, who was my favorite fighter at the time, in their first fight. Seeing Shane get beat up that bad was a shock, but at the same time I could not HELP BUT admire Forrest for his ability and fighting in that fight. Just a perfect fight MAN! I don't care what anyone says, TO BE, he should get into the HOF. The guy is a 5 time world champion and was a great ambassador of the sport. And who knows what else he could've did with that great of a performance. But if you look at this interview you will see that at the moment he was genuinely happy for that victory. He said nothing will matter after that fight, because he knows that he is in the HOF now, for winning back the title -- that he made it. At least he did that, before his end came.

I looked at the tribute, in the beginning of this post, and started to tear up a little. He was such a great fighter in his prime. So senseless...

Such a weird death... Basically a car chase followed by a gunfight, yes? I think thats what the article said when I read it right after Vernon's death.

Gatti's was ridiculously out there too, even Arguello's had rumors of a political assassination as Arguello's mindset even at the worst of times was never one that leaned towards suicide, and I believe Alexis had just just gotten himself into a high level political place.

He was a genuinly good man. You can't say that about too many boxing greats that have come and gone. The world is a more weary place without Vernon in it.

Still lets me down when I remember and forever will. Can't believe he was killed trying to give money to a begging piece of **** thug. These street corner thugs should all be gathered in once place and set on fire.

i hope the way died does not give people the impression that he was some hoodlum because of the fact that he was carrying a gun. he always seem like one of boxing's good guys, and class act.
