maybe theres a lack of depth there (he is dead after all :roll but beatin prime, undefeated mosley is just about as good as it gets imo (especially in the fashion he did it).
the hall of fame isnt just about achievemnt , how many times , its called the hall of FAME. A fighters impact on the world stage can be taken into account too. When McGuigan fought the whole of Ireland supported him which , especially in those days , was unheard of. He moved an entire country obviusly he could fight too but its the whole package that makes him an importnat figure in boxing history. Obviusly you can get in on ability alone too but in that case the ability has to be great. Ricky Hatton for example lost to two of the three truly elite fighters he fought , but he'll get in too for a mix of achievement and impact. Vernon didnt have a huge impact , and if you take out Mosley his career was solid not stellar , so what you have to ask is , is beating Mosley twice enough to elevate him ?
I think Vernon will eventually get in. Carlos Palomino and Pipino Cuevas are both in. Neither was a great fighter. But the problem you are going to run into is then, should Ricardo Mayorga get in. Mayorga beat Forrest twice, once by knockout. Mayorga beat a faded Fernando Vargas. While Forrest barely beat a faded Ike Quartey. Both own titles in 2 divisions. I honestly think both get in eventually, but I don't think they are hall of fame worthy. If Mosley beats Mayweather it will increase the argument for Vernon getting in. But here is my take on it. Junior Jones smoked Marco Antonio Barrera. He isn't going to sniff the hall. Iran Barkley destroyed Thomas Hearns, but he has yet to receive induction. So in the end I think Vernon comes up just short. He was a great guy, and an excellent fighter, but he just didn't have an enough elite wins in his career. Maybe if he would have had a better promoter and manager it would have been different.
Mosley has accomplished much more then Vernon. Forrest was 6 and 3 in Title fights. Mosley currently is 15 and 5 in title fights. Mosley has beat 8 current or former world champions. Vernon beat 5. Mosley won titles in 3 weight classes. Forrest won in 2. Mosley beat better fighters. Styles make fights. Vernon beat Mosley, but Mosley knocked out Ricardo Mayorga who knocked out Forrest. So based on that that you have to go on accomplishment, Mosley's resume is light years ahead of Forrests. Forrest was talented enough for hall of fame induction. But he didn't do enough in his career. Which is sad, because Forrest was such a great ambassador for the sport.
And Mosley avenged his losses in a way. Beat by Wright so he beats a ko's Vargas. Beat by Cotto so he ko's Marg. That should even it out a bit.
