I seriously favour Cotto stylistically, but that's not always enough.

I think against Mosley, it was the authoritive jab that gave him trouble. He stopped moving when he was getting backed up. Pea had an awesome jab, but he rarely backed people up with it. He used it to keep busy, to start his combinations and to mess with his opponents timing. I think Shane could use his power and strength to box with Pea. I saw the way Roger was able to land on a young Pea, hurt him or knock him down, and at times force him into a real fight. I can see Shane doing this but to a greater extent. Shane could fight Pea everywhere, both inclose, and both at mid range. Most importantly, he had the speed and combinations to actually land on Pea which not many fighters actually had. Overall, if i was going to bet it would probably be close points for Pea, but i just think he would tagged more against Mosley, and be made to fight harder as well. The looping right hands and the angles Shane throws from would IMO make him harder to defend against. Overall, Pea would probably out box him, but i definitely think that Shane would have his moments. Especially if he commited to attacking the body. The thing with Shane is that against a guy like Pea, he could adapt and bully him with physical pressure if he was getting outboxed from the outside. Forrest really has no way to adapt, he is just going to fight his fight, and keep trying the same things over and over IMO.

Based on how he deals with pure boxers?

I think Whitaker wins a decision in a highly competitive fight. You?

I wasn't really directing that post at you, just posting in general, my thoughts on Shane!! Whitaker vs Cotto would be great. I have a very unpopular opinion on that one, although Cotto really still needs to be more proven. Let him beat Floyd and I might make that thread!! Its tough, because Quintana was troubling Cotto with his movement, jab and defence. But then again Cotto had only just started turning up the pace when the KO came. Very interesting fight.

    My apologies then.

Yeah, Quintana was giving Cotto trouble with his movement. It wasn't quite a completely one-sided beatdown in an uncompetitive fight like some make it out to be. I feel a better boxer in Whitaker, who possessed a much better jab, could make it harder for Cotto to get in close to do his work. Cotto would definitely have his rounds though where he'd get the better of Whitaker. My guess is that he makes it makes it tougher on Whitaker than Chavez did.

    See, isn't this great?

No trolls to deal with. No ridiculous, skewed opinions to disprove. Just a mature, well-informed debate and conversation between several true boxing fans. It's been a while.

Yeah, but if there was no entertainment at all, things wouldn't be even, need a balance of good and evil. I'd just prefer entertainment without the likes of Bigtime9 knockoffs.:deal

I think Cotto's improved since Quintana, will continue to improve. If we favour him over Floyd at 147 pretty decisive(very decisive on my end), I see no reason why he couldn't at least make it very close for the 147 version of Whitaker.

But I can't yet find a reason to give him the edge.

I agree actually. The difference in opinion, and the different personalities who occupy the boards make things interesting. If everyone were as knowledgable as you Brooklyn, the boards would be an awesome avenue for learning, but unfortunately wouldn't provide the same entertainment value. At the end of the day, the feirce debates are half the fun!!!

And if Magnum started posting regularly, everyone would get so much better at analysing fights, that we'd lose interest in watching fights as we'd know the outcome before they even began.:good

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy responding to foolish posters with little clue as to what they're talking about.
