I'd actually go with Margarito, here.

I'm sorry if Margarito is getting overrated, but yeah.. this is another " A level " fighter that he would defeat and probably TKO as well.

I would agree. Vernon is too injury prone and he does not handle pressure well, even in his prime.

thats the thing about vernon,he falls apart under pressure. mosley was a perfect opponant for him. a guy who stays on the outside but is looking to throw combo's so a long jab of forrest just kept him at bay.

margarito would walk through him and stop him. but i think i would of said this before the cotto fight.

If Mora can beat him so can Margarito.

prime for prime forrest by UD. MAyorga is a totally different type of pressuer fighter and his punches were harder.

It's a different kind of pressure, no doubt.

bro it gets me how people just seem to think forrest was crap . in his prime he was the black sheep no body wanted to fight him plus he had great skill. if MArgo was out boxed by PW . forrest who is just as big but with more skill and power would pull of the ud

Suprised there isnt as much love for Vernon here.

Forrest was a proper welter, a master tactician and a different challenge all together compared to Cotto.

Pre-Mayorga I would pick him in a heartbeat but dont get me wrong it certainly wouldnt be an easy or wide win.

Even a scared, mentally scarred Vernon only just lost Mayo in their 2nd fight IMO.
Margo doesnt have the reckless abandonment for defense that Mayorga has and I think in a way that would work better for Forrest, who likes the distance and the chance to counter.
Margo doesnt really start walking through shots until he sees his opponant getting tired and he feels he has the monentum. Not everyone might agree with that but Ive seen a few Magarito fights, where I think he keeps those hands up and parries early on, he doesnt just come forward head first.

Forrest holds him out for a decision win 8 times out of 10.

Mayorga and Margarito implore a different kind of pressure but that doesn't mean Margarito's wouldn't be as effective. Forrest is bothered by pressure in general, always has been.. Quartey was even able to walk him down and give him trouble.

As for the fight I think Forrest would take the first 2 or 3 rounds clearly then start to wilt to Margarito's constant pressure and workrate and eventually get caught against the ropes and stopped.

Margarito TKO 5. Vernon wouldn't take the pressure well and would eventually fold.
