I saw these two spar each other alot in the gym. I never saw Vargas get the better of Forrest.
Forrest would have always kicked his ass

I think Forrest would do well against Vargas, however, Forrest doesnt like big, strong guys who come at him round after round, i think Forrest would do well for the first few rounds but i think it would start to get interesting in the middle rounds when Vargas starts to catch up with Forrest, hammering him to the body and getting some work done.

    Interesting, interesting fight.....

Yes, this one is too close to call. I think Forrest can outbox him given his skills and range, but Vargas will make him fight for it.

On a side note, am I the only one that thinks its crazy and a little surreal that a Fernando Vargas vs Vernon Forrest thread is now in the classic section?

    :-( Time has gone by.....

Seems not too long ago Fernando was my fav active fighter, a young fire filled passionate and ferocious warrior and Vernon was trying to come back from a pair of momentum halting losses,

fast foward a bit and how different things are.

    RIP Forrest

Another thing I would add is that neither fighter reached their full potential in my opinion. Forrest was side tracked from the shoulder injury, which he really never fully healed from, and Vargas in my opinion was pushed along a little too quickly, and I think a lot of that had to do with his personality. I think Main Events thought he wouldnt be in the sport very long. I remember watching him in the olympics, he could box beautifully when he wanted to, but he became more of a puncher in the pros, and his gameplans going into fights werent always the best.
