Brook was an excellent fighter, but sort of like a poor mans Mosley.

Strong, durable, heavy handed pressure fighters, rather than boxer-punchers, were Vernon's kryptonite.

    Forrest UD.

Forrest had more skill than Brook.

Great match up. Tough to call. While Forrest had Mosley's number, he got sparked by Mayorga. Brook not as good as Mosley but a step up from Mayorga.

Forrest wouldn’t be able to keep him off of him, Brook would walk him down like he did Frankie Gavin, except he wouldn’t be able to land clean as often.

Brook was underrated at closing off the ring, using the jab offensively and forcing errors, he was also very strong and could push guys up to the ropes.

Comparing Forrest to Gavin is wild.

Forrest’s claim to fame his beating a peak Mosley. Brook’s highlight is beating a young Shawn Porter.

Styles make fights, and I feel Brook can back Forrest up, use his strength and outwork him. Mayorga was able to twice, it’s obviously something Forrest struggled with, guys who didn’t wait on the outside and applied the pressure and were strong, Brook could do that, but he was much better technically than Mayorga. He’d back Forrest up with the jab, throw punches off of the jab and rough him up in close, create space and angles etc, step to the side and get work off.

Mosley and Vince Phillips were a lot more like Brook than Mayorga.

But I feel Brook was better at walking down movers than Mosley and Phillips, even if I do think Mosley was better overall. Brook had that important gear in his toolbox that he’d need here, whereas Mosley was made hesitant by Forrest’s boxing, when in reality, he didn’t need to be hesitant, but Brook would take the initiative when guys were trying to get away with keeping it low volume and keeping it long.

I don't think He even fought any world class fighters who could be described as movers or boxers first.

I feel the classic Kell Brook is actually very underrated, because I believe he was an underachiever, he was elite IMO. He was outboxing Spence and it even looked uncomfortable for Spence in there, until a hard head clash broke Brook’s eye socket, which obviously changed the course of the fight.

People often see Brook as ‘Just a world champion who won a belt’, but I think the context of some of his fights show that he was elite at his best. He could box, had an excellent jab, brilliant technique, but could also pressure, set guys up, had brilliant footwork and balance, like I said, he could tap tap, create an angle, step around and land masterfully.

He’s an underachiever and most don’t realise his class.
