At 147lbs, who would take this?

I say it wouldn't be that competetive, Vernon by beatdown and stoppage.
The reason I post this thread is to celebrate the great young man that was Vernon Forrest, inside and outside of the ring he was the champ, a 6'1 147lbs' beast vs a 6'2 freak of nature.

    Who do you got? :smoke

A prime vernon "the viper" forrest would his fist venomous fist would strike n slowly take out Paul Williams. The only thing thats stops forrest from stoping him early is pauls will to fight

Depends on how Paul Fights. If Paul tries to box him, I think he may get beaten. IF Paul tries to brawl I think it might actually work in his favor, especially if he keeps his defense tight.

It would be a tough one 'cause of Williams style, but we are talking here a about a man who took Mosley to school 2 times!

First time he benefited greatly from Mosley suffering concussion from a headbutt. The second fight hell no. Forrest was nice but he didnt have the tools to trouble Williams. Forrest never liked pressure. He liked to fight at his own pace. Williams sets a pace that Forrest simply wouldnt like. Williams via UD.

Vernon was a sneaky counterpuncher, you're right about his lack of frequency though.

Vernon liked to counter punch but i never felt that he was natural with it or even very good at it. His style was quite negative for a long time and hence why despite being a dangerous and known quantity at 47 no one was really interested after the whole Raul Frank debacle. It became even more apparent to me when he fought Mayorga that he didnt like pressure at all. Williams brings alot of heat with a very high punch output. Couple that with his length and Forrest has alot of problems to deal with.

Stylistically the fight favours Williams. But as much as I like Paul, I never saw much at 147 that made me stand up apart from his freakish physique (that is pretty much negated against Vernon).

Close fight with Vernon's cleaner punches just edging him to a decision.

Forrest would be a nightmare for Floyd.

Williams poor defense would get him in deep **** with Forrest, who isn't giving away to much size, and while he may not have had the hardest punch he has enough pop to KO a fighter who repeatedly blocks shots with his face.

Vernon's height and good jab and boxing skills would have Williams looking like crap, but, but, Forrest was troubled by the awkward wild style of Mayorga so who knows? Id still pick Forrest.
