Vernon has the height, reach and great boxing skills to go along with it. How does pernell whitaker, the head to head king on esb, win this one.

i think forrest could beat whitaker at 154, just to big a step up, i remember trinidad was catching him with more punches then dela hoya and i think it was just because 154 is so far from his old fighting weight at 135.

That was at 147, and it was because Pea was 35 years old, shot to ****, and a crackhead. Those were also big steps from his 135 days.

I don't think Forrest is good for Pea at 154.

Nice post brownPimp88. lbflb sweetpea is just crazy great. My man roberto duran wood be a mad matchup with sweetpea. At 154 forrest is a little to big, but pea can pull it off. Mikey!

I remember back in the 90's, when Whitaker fought for a 154lb. title. There was talk of him meeting one of his p4p rivals, Terry Norris, for Norris' supermiddleweight title. After Whitaker's successful try at the 154lb. title, all of those talks ended. Whitaker relinquished that belt. He looked like that division might be a bit much for him.

Forrest seems to have the right size for this division.

Forrest would have had his handsfull with Whitaker, but I think he would land the heavier looking blows for a decision.

Yeah, but apparently Brownpimp didn't take the bait.

At 154, I'd say Forrest is probably bad for him, at 147 it is a better matchup, one I could certainly see Pea winning.

i think mayweather and pernell would get mosley'd.

Ridiculous. Neither have them have shown any type of weakness against that type of fighter, and are much better pure boxers than Mosley, who's purely a mid range fighter. To go further, they also have better defense. Again though, at 147 I think both are capable of beating Forrest(and may favor them) but at 154 it's possibly a different story, just because Whitaker was quite a bit different.

another thought that comes my way is that forrest reminds me or roger mayweather in a sense that he has a very good right hand, long reach and good boxing skills. roger was very close to beating whitaker as well as knocking him down. forrest with more strength and chin at a higher weight class may prove the difference.

but i dont doubt whitaker, he has done great things in the past. just not his prime weight class :/

Forrest beats Whitaker easily at this weight IMO. Just too big. Now, if this fight were at 147, it would be much closer.

Very close to beating Whitaker? Aside from the knockdown he got schooled. Entertaining fight, but Whitaker outclassed him.

whitaker was clearly hurt from that knockdown.
