Very cool footage of Walcott outpointing the 6'3 Hoff

TenHoff looks mobile and pretty quick for a big man,European level decent .Peter Wilson, who was ringside said that Walcott eased up on the German late on and could have taken him out in his opinion.

Agreed. He does look rather agile as well as possessing decent boxig ability... He appears to be rather fit as well.. Good win for Walcott.

Walcott was a master but I always thought Hoff was 6"5...He certainly looks like he towers over the 6 ft. Walcott

I think Hoff was probably 6'5. He towered over Ingemar Johansson, who was about 6'1.

Did you watch the Walcott vs Rex Layne fight that was also posted?

 

I was wonderinbg that, too. If that's 6'3" we get a real good sense of how Walcott would have looked standing next to Norton or Ali.

Jersey Joe seems to be about the height of Sonny.

Liston was a little taller than Walcott. But I think Hoff is probably a bit over 6'3". That was my point.

 

I think Walcott was 6' at most and probably no taller. He looks shorter than Liston to me. I think Liston was 6' 1.
Walcott looks maybe an inch taller than Marciano in their fight. I certainly dont think he's over 6 foot, and perhaps slightly under.

Having said that, Hoff may well be 6'5. And he had big upper-body too.

Obviously, Hoff must have had "NO SKILLS!" because this was 1950, before men as big as him are even allowed to know about boxing skills, jabs, technique or even basic co-ordination of seperate bodily parts.
