Buncey has begun to really push that boxing is a business. I don't buy that line from the suits. All major sports are a business but they are also a sport which demand a competative architecture that sees the best fight the best and not embrace **** like weak defences, weak belts, avoiding mandatories etc The whole business argument is great for all the employees of Allegedly.
I only have time for Barry and Oliver. Every other pundit is too yes man for me. Boxnation feels like a.Korean state broadcast with its one-sided analysis and debate Oh and will Bunce please let Lillis finish a ****ing sentence without looking to but in. Not that Lillis is great or anything, its just annoying and bad mannered like. Same ad Bunces screaching and high pitched tirades that are tangents to the topic. Nelson. Oh Jesus, that guy is a ****ing turnip. He cannot read his lines, cannot give technical analysis and always says the winner is the guy 'that wants it more', I hate that! And he always seems to make everytjibg about him or what he has done, his inhouse quips with Smith are creepy as **** too. Steve Collins was good the otherday when he came on I must say.
In fairness to Bunce he did say at the end of the broadcast on Saturday night that it was great for Cleverly to have a homecoming fight but that the fans wouldn't swallow another opponent of Karpency standards. Even though they were all pissed you could sense the boredom. A terrible "fight"
Do you think any of the sugar-coated boys at SKY would offer an end statement like that? I said it was a homecoming and not to expect too much before and after the fight. I wrote it that day. All facts. Adios.
Bunce was just better in the Setanta days. The old boxing hour was so much better to watch the new Bunce hour.
I agree with Miguel, Bunce's alright. Whatever we do we all have our masters and at the moment Frank is Bunce's master. I think overall he's a good voice in British boxing and if you've been watching him long enough you know he get's really excited an caught up in it, but that why he admits to being like maramite. We are lucky in the UK to have such a good mix of commentating personalities who are on the whole very good and do try to be objective.
There's defo far worse out there and as some have said Nelson really does take the biscuit. I thought the Alex Arthur/Barry McGuigan double act worked really well on Saturday.
I don't listen to any pundits full stop now. Some have an agenda which is far enough if they are getting paid, some are nuthuggers and some are unknowledgable. I'm pretty happy with the way I gauge whats happening in a fight and don't need to listen to somebody talking a load of shite to clarify my views. I think punditry is aimed more at the general fans anyway rather than the hardcore.
I think people are being a bit harsh on Buncey, he is employed by Boxnation, he can't slag off a fight he's helping to promote can he. He would be getting his P45 and knowing Fwank, probably a lawsuit? That's not what you want at the best of times and certainly not when your in a recession.
I've got to admit to being a fan of Buncey, and to be honest I think the £2.50 a week I pay for Boxnation is worth it for his show alone. He does make me laugh with some of his comments, and although he can come across as a bit of a tit sometimes I find it enduring, much like with my own Dad! I think he does offer a pretty honest view, but he does need to be mindful of 'talking up' some fights because they are being arranged by his paymasters. It is important that he can remain completely impartial, and be allowed to speak his mind without fear of offending those in charge, I think Boxnation will be all the better for this and have more respect from true fans. Let's be honest, subscribers to Boxnation will more than likely be more than just casual viewers and will have their bulls##t detectors turned on to maximum, so when something stinks let's just say it stinks!
That is true but he's a 137 year old man, the bosses probably think he's senile and immoral to get rid of him.
So when Cleverly lines up another Tommy Karpency on April 28th are you going to say "this is bull****" or "he is just preparing for the Hopkins vs Dawson winner" which we all know is BS. If Cleverly fights the winner of that fight I will leave this forum. You willing to make a simular bet Buncey?
