McVey, I'm going to have to argue with you about Griffo. He did beat Torpedo Billy Murphy in Sydney. Billy was recognised as F/W champ and defended the title 3 times in the USA. Richard Fox recognised him until he left the shores. Hardly a reason to strip him of a title.

Griffo belted Murphy over 15 rounds, meanwhile Richard Fox had appointed Johnny Griffen as 'champ'... the same Griffen that Murphy had belted in 3 rounds.

Its taken a long time for Griffo to be recognised, but he been as the lineage of the days is less than precise.

I have to name Jorge Ahumada to the list. He was royally screwed out of that fight with Bob Foster and that draw decision was a travesty!! I saw the fight, and Jorge score all night long with a very effective left hook, and seemed to dominate...yes dominate Foster...a thing that I thought was unthinkable. It was of course, waayyy past Bob's "bedtime" as a champion and a fighter, and he should have retired before then, but nevertheless, Ahumada should have been crowned champion that night. He probably would have lost it right away if he had defended against Victor Galindez, which would have a logical matchup. I've always been a fan of those Argentine fighters, like Ahumada, Galindez, even Hugo Corro and especially Carlos Monzon and Nicolino Locche.

Cmon man, i always enjoy reading your posts because your a knowledgeable guy but dont take any kind of shot at Roy Jones. He is arguably the greatest fighter since Leonard. No denigration from die hard 'old timers' loyalists will convince me that he wasnt a very special fighter .. Lineal Champion or not .... Im a huge fan of Archie Moore and Ezzard Charles but i reckon Roy Jones gives them all they can handle, you can add Foster to that list too .. Like Roy, Hate Roy but you have to recognise what kind of talent he was ..
